Chapter Fourteen - Batman – Invasion

Epilogue

The Master stood glowering at the Doctor his hands were behind his back as the Batman cuffed him.

The Joker was being led away by some of Arkham Asylum's guards. They were all big burly men with bullet proof vests. Some had gas masks on in case of any Joker gas.

"I helped save the world!" Hollered the Joker. "Don't I get any time off for good behaviour!"

"We'll take off ten years," growled the Batman.

"Oh goody! When does that mean I will be released?"

"About four hundred years."

He looked momentarily crest fallen. "Master! Master! My dear friend! Can I borrow your time machine again? Just for a bit! I promise I won't break it!"

The Master was led away in chains. "How long do you think these apes can keep me Doctor?"

"Long enough I think." The Doctor turned around. "Now Batman I was wondering…" He found he was talking to no one. "How does he do that? Do you know how he does that?" He scratched his head. "I would love to know how he does that!"

"Come on Rose, come on Jack." He scooped up the two of them and shuffled out. "Let's go before we get asked too many questions."

"Doctor one moment," said Vansell. "You are a Doctor from our future are you not?"

He gave him the benefit of his full charming smile. "Spoilers, Vansell, spoilers!"

Vansell walked back to his Tardis, a small grey tube that looked like it only had space for one person. "We will meet again Doctor. We will defeat the Dalek menace." The door slid open revealing a gleaming Tardis console room. He walked in and turned one last time. "With or without your help the Dalek's will be defeated." The door closed behind him and the Tardis shimmered and then winked out of existence.

"Come on everyone," said the Doctor. "Let's get out of here."

Rose looked at her watch and gave a smile. "Can we just stay another couple of hours?"

The Wild Fire Restaurant – 7:30 pm.

The restaurant was just starting to get busy. All the tables were booked up. Candles flickered over the patrons. Rose Tyler was wearing a light blue dress that seemed to shimmer showing just a flash of her well-toned legs. She was looking anxiously at her watch.

Was it 7:30 he said he would be here? I am sure it was 7:30. What do you say to a millionaire that doesn't involve the size of his wallet?

She could hear whispered conversations from the diners. It was all a group hallucination they were saying. A collective nightmare. Some very eminent scientists were on the television saying that what they thought had happened hadn't happened at all and they could probably trace it all to a batch of mouldy yeast prepared in France some three months ago. Everyone seemed quite happy to blame the French for it.

A gleaming limousine pulled up outside the restaurant. The chauffeur ran to the door and opened it for him and a tall handsome man walked in.

Rose gave him a full smile and walked up to him. "So what do you millionaires do to keep yourselves busy in Gotham?"
