Hey everyone. Here's this random short thing. o.o And, there's a subtle reference to 'Tired'. Go read it if you haven't. Like, now. O.O

Pretty

She stared at him, trying to decipher his smirk. Had he just said what she thought he said?

...It didn't seem possible. I mean, come on. This was Specter. He generally didn't go around saying stuff like that.

She replayed their conversation from when she'd gotten there, up till now.

"Hey, Specter." she said flatly, fluttering down to sit outside of his cage, back against the bars.

"Hi." he replied in a bored tone. "Why're you here?"

"What, you don't want me here?" she said tauntingly, turning her head slightly to look at him with a smirk.

"Never said that."

"Sure." She decided to let the topic go. "It's too loud at home and I wanna read this." He noticed that she had some fantasy book tucked under her arm. She opened it up, her back against the bars of the cage again. There were a few minutes of silence in which she constantly felt his gaze on her. She ignored it.

"You know, you're really pretty."

She quickly turned to face him, her eyes wide. "...What?" she asked, her voice quieter than she'd intended. "What did you just say, Specter?"

Oh, my. He really had said it.

His smirk grew slightly at her question. "I said you're pretty. Junie."

She blinked a few times. That was the first time he'd ever really used her name. Then she suddenly felt rather short-of-breath. She felt the heat rising in her cheeks, and knew he saw it by the mischievous shimmer in his eyes. "Th-thanks." she breathed, trying to fight down the blush clouding her cheeks and nose.

"Hey, it's the least I could do after what you said a couple of days ago..." he said softly, settling back into his chair. She frowned slightly in confusion.

What the heck is he talking about? she thought. Then, it clicked. "Ohhhh..."she groaned softly, slumping down against the cage, trying desperately to tune out his triumphant snicker. "I...guess you win this round, huh?" she said after a few moments.

"Yep."

"You're not depending on the fact that I won't actually hold this against you, though, right?" she said, referring to his compliment.

"Nope. But, hey, I still have something on you."

"Yeah, I know, Specter." she said softly, her voice taking on a sincere tone, which surprised him. "I know."

End

I rushed the end. Oh well, right? I hope you liked this, guys. R&R.
