Author's Note: Yeah. Apparently, I haven't the time nor dedication/perseverance/all-those-other-wonderful-virtues-that-battle-laziness to write anything but drabbles. But hey! This drabble is almost semi-original in one thing: this is the first Naruto story I have ever written that doesn't revolve around Hinata! Consequently, it's also one of the shortest stories I've written. Bleh.

It's mainly dialogue, and completely different from my usual style. Oh! And it's a Shika x Ino romance, so anybody that wants to, I won't blame them for hitting the 'back' button right now.

"Shikamaru?"

"…"

"Shikamaru!"

"……"

"SHIKAMARU!"

"…zzz…"

"I can read your mind, you idiot! I know you're just pretending to be asleep, you lazy bum!"

This, of course, was Ino's way of saying that she wanted to talk. Had she sat down next to him on the grass and smiled, Shikamaru might have had a heart attack. An angry Ino was a happy Ino. Her anger was as expected a ritual as his laziness.

Although he really was sleepy. Leave Ino to pick a troublesome time to talk.

Ino sighed in frustration. His eyes were half-way open. This was about as attentive as he would get-but this was important to her, darn it!

"Shikamaru, can I ask you a question?"

"…ye-zzzzzzz…"

"WAKE UP, you idle OAF!" Ino shouted.

Shikamaru's eyelids fluttered. Idle oaf…that was new. It seemed Ino was intent on expanding her vocabulary.

"It's not really relevant, and it's not as if I really need to know the answer…it's a hypothetical question, come to think of it, because it's not-"

Had Shikamaru not been asleep, he would have noticed Ino's obvious discomfort.

"Shikamaru!"

"…troublesome…" Shikamaru drowsily muttered.

"Just answer my question! Hypothetically speaking, how would you react if-"

Ino's question and her temper were cut short by a very obvious snore.

"SHIKAMARU, WAKE U-oh, why bother? He's so predictable! The guy has two reactions: sleep it off or call it troublesome! I don't even have to ask how he'd react…if I…"

Satisfied with her hypothesis, Ino glanced over the sleeping genius. "No reason at all to ask what you'd do if I kissed you."

"Not at all," Shikamaru replied in a strained voice. "You're wrong, though."

And even though it was generally regarded as pointless to argue with a genius, Ino did it anyway. "Really? I don't think so."

"Wouldn't you want to know what I really would do when you kiss me?"

"Hypothetically speaking. It's just a question," Ino spat icily.

"Hypothetically speaking, then. Hypothetically speaking...I'd kiss you back," Shikamaru spoke quietly.

Coming from a genius, the answer to a hypothetical question was almost always right.

And even if it wasn't, Ino knew that Shikamaru was telling the truth. Because he always kept his word. As troublesome as it was.

The thing about hypothetical questions...was that they always lead up to something.

In this case, anyway.

Author's Note: Uh...that would be the end. Not that good, actually, but I kinda feel bad for not having written anything for over two weeks...I have a messed up schedule and somehow avoided taking English this semester...

Anyways. If you have the time (which I'm guessing that you do because you read all the way down here), please review! Any kind of review is appreciated (and I actually mean that...) I'm not exactly one of the best writers in my school, so I really rely on feedback...but I'll quit the whining right now because it's starting to make my author's notes longer than the story itself...

Thanks for reading!
