The Best Laid Plans…
By Angela Rizhel
She couldn't. She wouldn't. And she most definitely shouldn't. She wasn't supposed to. It wasn't in the game plan.
Lily Evans's 5 Step Plan:
1) Go to Hogwarts
2) Become a prefect
3) Achieve the coveted status of Head Girl
4) Become a role model
5) Graduate top in her class
There was no given space for falling in love. And she definitely could not, would not, should not fall in love with her enemy James Potter. Because it simply wasn't in the game plan. She tried listing all of his bad qualities to remind herself that she was not in love with him.
He was arrogant and mean. He thought he was above others. He talked to others like Judi Dench. And it definitely wasn't polite to show an obvious form or snobbery. He messed up his hair on purpose. He had seven different smirks that he has successfully mastered. He played pranks on others. He was Head Boy without being prefect first, and he barely did any of his head duties. He wasted his intelligence by not studying, but he still got good marks. He asked her out repeatedly just to annoy her. And he had ruined her plan by capturing Lily's heart. And that was unforgivable.
But despite all that, she found herself falling for him. How could she convince herself that she wasn't in love with him? And then she stumbled across the answer. She would kiss him. Once she kissed him and there was no passion, she could continue with her plan in peace.
So when James walked into the Head Common Room with his broomstick in tow, Lily stood up from her work. She walked determinedly over to James. And she kissed him. James immediately wrapped his arms around her waist while her arms curled around his neck. Lily's hand ran through James's messy hair that once had frustrated her to no end. But now his hair was sexy.
James and Lily stumbled over to the plush couch, their mouths still connected. This is Potter! Lily's mind screamed. The plan was to kiss him, feel nothing, and get back to work! But Lily pushed those thoughts away as she deepened the kiss. It was then she accepted the fact that she really had fallen for James.
The couple stumbled their way to James's room and locked the door behind them; James's broomstick and Lily's homework lay forgotten. Lily Evans's 5 Step Plan, which had been religiously taped above her workspace as a constant reminder, gently fluttered to the ground next to James's broomstick.
Oh, well. The best laid plans…
Author's Note: Another OneShot! I hope you like it. It's currently one hundred degrees in sunny California. It's extremely hot and I was just about to jump in the pool when the plot bunny grabbed me and stuck me in front of my laptop. Stupid bunny. Right before I was going to go in. Damn. Oh well. I hope you appreciate the sacrifice I made for you. I'm going to jump in the pool before Peter Cottontail grabs me again. Hopefully he won't ruin my plan.
P.S. Still need a beta; have been doing all my oneshots with out one. My birthday is Sunday. Hint, hint.
