Fuu stood at the open shouji door, staring out at the night sky. She could hear the tap of Mugen's wooden sandal hitting the floor, and it was almost a comforting sound. Sighing slightly, she leaned her head against the frame.

"Where do you think Jin is?"

"I dunno." Came Mugen's gruff reply, his eyes closed as he linked his hands behind his head as he lay sprawled out on the floor.

"You don't think he just went off, do you? He promised he'd help me look for the samurai who smells of sunflowers..."

"Maybe he got fed up because that's all you ever tell us."

"What?" Fuu blinked, turning from the open door to look at Mugen as he yawned.

"The samurai who smells of sunflowers." Mugen mocked her as he rolled onto his side, his back to her. "I've never smelled sunflowers, and I don't know if he has. So it's pretty much just up to you, I suppose, to go around smelling all the guys we come across. Don't you have any other leads? This really sucks, because we're not get anywhere. And think about it, he could have just walked out, gotten fed up with your bitching about nothing. I'm surprised I'm not gone yet. So about this guy--"

"Stop, stop! This isn't about him, this is about Jin!"

"Who knows what's wrong with him?" Mugen smirked, and rolled back over to look at her, grinning from his spot on the floor. "Maybe he's in love."

He could use some entertainment.

"In love? With who?"

"You ditz! I'm talking about you! He's a quiet guy--maybe it's because he's shy around you."

"Just because he's quiet doesn't mean he's in love with me. Get a grip Mugen!" She crossed her arms, turned on her heel and looked back outside. "It's getting late...I think I'll go look for him. Don't stay up and wait."

"Didn't intend to."

She glared at him, annoyed with his obnoxious behavior, and stepped outside.

Fuu traveled along the dark streets, dodging more than a few drunken men as she went, and nearly let out a scream of gratefulness when she saw Jin. She ran to catch up with him, and he looked down at her through his glasses.

"There...you are. I was...wondering where you went." She was doubled over slightly, panting, but smiling nonetheless.

"I was just on my way back to the inn."

"Well we'll just go together then, won't we?" The vauge thought of the the possibility that Mugen had run off while she had been gone bothered her slightly, but she pushed it out of her mind. He probably fell asleep right when she had left.

They traveled in silence for a few moments before Fuu become restless, wringing her hands together. Jin glanced at her briefly, before looking ahead again.

"Is there something you wish to say?"

"No. Well...kinda. I was just wondering...what you thought about me." She stopped, thinking he would, too, but he kept walking, leaving her staring at him back.

"Hn."

"Hey wait!" She blinked in surprise before running after him, grabbing at the sleeve of his gi. He finally did stop, looking down at her. "I just want to know if you have...feelings for me...like..."

"I don't know what you were told, but I believe it was a lie."

"You jerk!" Fuu flung one of her sandals at the sleeping heap that was Mugen, and he instantly stirred.

"What the hell are you yelling about?" His voice was laced with sleep as he turned half-open eyes on her.

"I'm never listening to you again!"
