Ferris Wheels

Welcome to my first fanfiction! I decided to post up a little Roxas x Naminé oneshot, so here it is. :)

Disclaimer: I do not own or claim to own Kingdom Hearts, nor any of the characters associated with it.

"Hey Naminé, why don't you come with us to the amusement park?" Kairi, Naminé's friend, innocently asked.

"I'm not so sure…" Naminé responded, knowing it would be a bad idea.

"Come on, Nam! It's Valentine's Day!" Naminé's other friend, Selphie, asked dramatically. Then she winked, "Maybe we'll invite Roxas, just for you!"

Naminé's cheeks turned a vivid red, a smile unconsciously forming on her lips. "Um…I'm still not sure."

Kairi and Selphie giggled. "Don't worry," Selphie said, an assuring tone in her voice. Kairi smiled, finishing, "Everything will be just fine."

"If you say so…"

Naminé thought about what had happened earlier in the day. Kairi, the silly redhead, and Selphie, the hyperactive brunette, dragged her along to go to an amusement park. Sora and Roxas were dragged along, too (they didn't want to get Kairi angry).

But still, she should've suspected something when Kairi went to the Ferris Wheel operator-guy and whispered something. But she didn't.

Then Kairi pushed Naminé inside, and Sora did the same with Roxas. And the operator-guy closed the door and started the ride, ignoring the confused look on Roxas' face, and the scared look on Naminé's.

Now, she was sitting across of the one and only, long-time-secret crush, Roxas. With no one else around. She blushed like crazy, looking over at the seemingly casual-looking Roxas.

He was twice as nervous as she was. Cross that out, fifty times nervous. But he didn't show it.

It might have been the cutest and most romantic moment ever, especially since it was nighttime, but Naminé was frightened of heights. And this Ferris Wheel is about forty feet tall.

"R-roxas…?" she says quietly, the idea of being forty feet high in the air terrifying her.

"Yeah?" he says, looking over at her.

"I'm…kinda…well…afraid of heights." She whispers, embarrassed.

He stands up and sits right next to her. "Don't worry," he says comfortingly. He wasn't afraid of heights; after all, he sits off the edge of the clock tower almost daily. The ride slows down, and then stops romantically at the very top.

She takes his hand and squeezes it tightly, and says timidly, "I don't want to fall."

"You won't," he smiles. "And besides, the view looks beautiful." 'And so do you,' he wanted to say, but, to him, it sounded too cheesy and corny, like something Sora would say to –cough–Kairi–cough–.

Naminé looks out, loosening her grip on him, but just by a little. He was right, it did look really cool. The colors of the lights, dancing on the rides. The dark navy sky, with milky white clouds scattered everywhere. The pale moon, shining brightly, as if it was smiling. She had to paint this scene later on.

Roxas smiles. Naminé totally forgot how high up they were, and now she was looking out, amusement in her eyes. The ride started up again, lazily going down.

"Roxas?" Naminé had a big smile on her lips now.

"Yeah?" he says, looking at her.

"Thank you." And with that, she leaned over and kissed him. A sweet, innocent kiss. (And, for her, a first kiss.)

She giggles, and gracefully steps out of the Ferris Wheel carts.

Roxas sat there for a moment, thinking.

He had to help her out more often.

Okay, thank you for reading. Now, review! I want to know how to improve my writing. :)
