Looking around him, he could see his family enjoying the party. His brothers were getting increasingly drunk as the evening went on. Some hid it better than others, especially around their mother. Ron didn't have that luck. He'd never been able to hold it together. And tonight he couldn't afford to not to.

Not with his future father in law watching his every move, just waiting to prove to his daughter just how unsuitable he was. But Pansy wasn't seeing any of that. Every time Ron stumbled or slurred slightly, she would smile like it was the most adorable thing in the world.

He looked down at Hermione standing beside him, she smiled like Ron was the biggest imbecile in the world, but he knew she thought it affectionately. He had also noticed the looks she was giving Pansy's ring finger. It wasn't in jealousy that Pansy was with Ron. Hermione had gotten over that a long time earlier. He'd helped her there. He imagined it was jealousy of a different kind.

Putting his arm around her waist he pulled her closer, leaning down he whispered in her ear, "Want one?"

Without missing a beat, "That had better not been your idea of a proposal Fredrick."

"Of course not honey bunch, just an observation is all."

"Not right now."

"When?"

"Soon."
