Christmas Time

"Ha-ru-hi," the twins chorused, holding up leaves between them. "Guess what this is."

Haruhi stopped, tray in hand, and stared. "It's a sprig of weed."

The twins made a buzzer-like noise. "Wrong! Guess again, Haruhi."

"I give up," she said, and started to move again.

The twins took her by the arms, and dragged her near the door.

"Oi, you two, I've to give this to the customers," she protested, gripping the tray tighter in fear of making her debts worse.

"That could wait," Hikaru said.

"Yeah, this couldn't," seconded Kaoru as they came to a stop.

"If I put this here," said Hikaru, hanging the greens over the nail protruding from the upper doorjamb.

Was there even supposed to be a nail there?

"And you stand, right here," said Kaoru, pulling her to stand directly under the weeds.

"And we stand right here." They took their places in Haruhi's sides.

Baffled, Haruhi let them do what they wanted.

"We'll do this."

Haruhi received twin kisses from them for each cheek.

"Merry Christmas, Haruhi," whispered Hikaru against her ear.

Then, just like that, they left.

Haruhi might've been less shocked, except…

… they haven't even gotten passed the month of September.

Mistletoes in September?

Haruhi shook her head and smiled.

Fin.
