Axel loved silence. He loved the way that it didn't talk, so he could pretend it was saying whatever he wanted. When Axel watched Roxas shift through his transparent friends, Axel imagined all the things Roxas would finally say to him.

I love you, I'm sorry, please take me home, Stay With Me.

When Roxas told Axel he remembered him, and therefore remembered his feelings, Axel threw aside his love of silence. Roxas physically telling him these things was better than any fake whisper in his mind.

But Roxas lied, and Axel again longed for the silence between them.

The Keyblade wasn't fast enough this time.

"It's okay... I forgive you, I love you... I won't abandon you anymore, not like last time..."

Axel kissed the unwilling cheeks, and smoothed out the unkempt locks.

"You're softer than I remember... quieter, too."

Axel cupped Roxas' lifeless face with his hands, and imagined what Roxas would say.

But his silence was better.
