Notes: Happy Birthday Angie! For some reason, all I had in my head was Michael, Brian and Spiderman….and from that I got this. Odd.
One:
There's a game kids play, where one pushes the other forward before pulling them back from the brink of falling, declaring with pride that they've just saved their lives.
Michael and Brian never played that game. But they'd watch curiously as the others did. They didn't understand it; superheroes didn't work like that.
But it never stopped Brian from looking into the sweet, open face of his best friend after binders, after beatings, or just after a quiet night of comics – and declaring, "You saved my life Mikey."
He never had to push him; he only had to catch him.
Two:
Run faster, try harder, reach higher, go farther. No fear, you can do it.
Brian brought Michael to Babylon after his first break-up.
"You can never let them see you down," he yelled into his ear over the thumpa-thumpa.
"But Mark is here," a twenty-two year old Michael whined.
"All the more reason to fly," Brian's hard body coaxed his best friend deeper into the crowd.
It wasn't a superpower, but it changed the earth's axis.
"How can you always save me?"
"I'm your hero," Brian grinned, stealing a kiss.
He was always there to push him, and catch him.
