Summary: Winry wakes up to an unexpected gift.

She woke up to the smell of flowers and wondered how that could be in the middle of February. Remnants of the last snow still lingered in shadowed pits and corners, and the pale winter sun lacked real warmth, even now as it streamed through the window, tickling her nose.

Winry slowly turned under the covers, trying to locate where the lovely smell came from. She had to blink twice to make sure she wasn't dreaming when she spotted the vase on her bedside table, almost overflowing with wild summer flowers. However, there was no note, no card, and although Winry had a faint suspicion as to whom the flowers where from, it was hard to believe.

Breakfast was just as everyday, with aunt Pinako puttering around the kitchen, Ed and Al already leaning over plans and books, discussing something in hushed voices. No one paid attention to her as she observed them, slowly sipping her coffee. She was so lost in thought, trails of sleepiness and the sweet scent of flowers still muddling her brain, that she almost missed it when Ed looked up for a second, gracing her with a shy, yet proud smile. It was so very Edward that she almost laughed out loud. Instead she smiled back and her stomach did a back flip at the answering expression on Ed's face.

Then the moment was gone and everything was back to normal. Well, almost everything, she thought, as she went back to drinking her coffee, pondering and relishing the warm feeling in the pit of her stomach that refused to go away.
