It was the end of summer, and Emily Arthur would be leaving in a few days for her 6th year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

She woke up that morning around 9:00, her usual time. She stretched, and got out of bed.

She then took her shower that she usually took in the morning after waking up. After washing up, she slowly, and tiredly, put on a pair of low-rise jeans, a green halter-top, and some green flip-flops.

She combed, dried, and straightened her dark brown hair with newly put in red streaks. She had gotten it done only weeks before, wanting to do it quite some time before school started, hoping to impress people, mostly guys. She had had a few boyfriends while attending Hogwarts, and was quite pretty, but she was sort of shy.

She hoped that by getting streaks in her hair, she would look better, and it would boost her confidence, so she wouldn't be so shy and quiet like she was at school. She wished it would make her classmates see the real her. The funny and outgoing person she was at home.

Emily raced downstairs, skipping every two steps, and entered her kitchen, where her mom was making breakfast. She sat down in her usual spot at the table, and turned on the tv. She would always watch Friends, her favorite show, when she got up. She turned on the dvd player, and the menu came up. She picked the episode- The One With All The Football, a classic, and one of her favorites.

"You hungry?" her mother asked, putting a piece of white bread in their old toaster.

"Sort of." She replied, getting up to get a glass of blue PowerAde, and sitting back down, taking a sip.

After about a minute or so the toast popped up and Mrs. Arthur put it on a plate and put it in front of her daughter, who was too busy laughing at something Chandler had said on the show. Once she finally noticed it, she took the jar of strawberry jam and spread it over her toast with a knife. She took a bite, then set it back down, getting into the show again.

When the episode was over, Emily turned off the tv, then got up and put her plate and glass in the sink.

"When are you leaving for Diagon Alley?" Her mom asked.

"In a few minutes." She replied.

She walked into the living room and took her green and yellow track jacket that she had gotten a few months ago at a store called Hollister when she visited the States off the coat rack and put it on, and then grabbed her keys and purse off of the coffee table and headed out of the door, yelling "Bye!" to her mom on the way out.

She got in her green- which is her favorite color, by the way- 2004 Mustang convertible, and drove to Diagon Alley to get her school supplies.

Once inside, she paused, thinking of where to go first. After a minute or two she finally decided to go get her schoolbooks at Flourish & Blotts first. She quickly thumbed through the books, finding the five she needed, then went to pay for them. While waiting silently in line, she spotted a classmate of hers in line beside her.

" Hannah!" She said, tapping her on the shoulder.

It was Hannah Abbot of Hufflepuff. Though they weren't in the same house, they had a few classes together and quickly became friends. Hannah turned around.

"Emily!" She replied, once noticing who it was. "You look different. Good different. Have you lost some weight? And you got red streaks in your hair!"

Emily didn't use to be fat, but she was a few pounds over the weight she should have been for her height of 5"2'. She had exercised during most of the summer, and had finally gotten down to a size that she liked, and made her look good. She was thin now.

"Yep, I have." Emily said, happy that someone noticed. "Five pounds to be exact."

"Well that's good!" Hannah added, before she got up to the register and paid.

She said her good-bye before she walked out with a handful of books. Emily finally got up to the cashier and paid a few minutes later.

She then went to Madame Malkin's robe shop, and Gringott's to get some money to take to Hogwarts for the Hogsmeade trips before she went to get some ice cream. That was where she spotted a very handsome red head sitting with a messy black haired boy with glasses who she knew as the famous Harry Potter, and his other friend, a bushy brown headed girl who she also knew- Hermione Granger, the smartest girl in school at a table nearby.

She knew his name also. Ron Weasley. They were both in Gryffindor, but had never really 'crossed paths'.

"Excuse me, ma'am." The woman at the counter said, bringing her out of her thoughts. "What will you have?"

"Uh, a chocolate cone." She answered, then took her gaze back over to Ron Weasley. He was laughing at something one of his friends must have said.

God, he looks so cute when he laughs, she thought.

She was brought back to earth once again when the woman at the counter handed her the ice cream, saying, "Here you go, ma'am."

Emily nodded her head in thanks and headed for the door, deciding she would eat it on the way back to her car. She walked out the door, but not before she could get another look at Ron. When she did, he looked up at her and they locked eyes. She blushed and she could see his cheeks turning the color of his hair when he turned back to his friends.

His friend, Harry, must have seen them, because he said, "You fancy her, don't you?"

"Shut up, Harry!" She heard him say before she walked out of the store, out of earshot.

She started walking faster as she headed to her car, and drove back home. She would be leaving the next day for school, and she still hadn't packed, so she ran upstairs to her room to do so.

She put on her Taking Back Sunday CD, and got to work. She packed all of her clothes, some pictures, and school things in her trunk, and then packed all of her good CD's and CD player into a bag for on the ride there. Once she had finished, she put the Taking Back Sunday CD back in the case and added it to her carry on bag.

She jumped on her bed, exhausted, and quickly fell asleep, dreaming of that Ron guy.

Dream

She was sitting against her favorite oak tree down on the Grounds at Hogwarts, looking at the multi-colored leaves swaying back and forth from the wind, when he walked up to her.

"Hey." He said.

She jumped. He had knocked her out of her thoughts. She turned around to face him.

"Hi." She replied, and turned back to the leaves.

He sat down next to her. By this point the sun had just started setting, causing the sky to turn a breathtaking orange and red color.

"I've never seen anything so beautiful." She told him, looking up at the cloudless sky.

"Me either." He said softly. She turned to him to find him staring at her. She knew he wasn't talking about the sky like she was. She got a weird feeling in the pit of her stomach, like butterflies fluttering around in there. Right then, he leaned in and kissed her on the lips gently, but passionately. She felt like she could just melt right there. All of a sudden, in the middle of the kiss, she heard an alarm go off and she woke up.

End Dream

It was 9:30, time to wake up. She quickly sat up and turned off the loud alarm.

"Stupid alarm." She said to herself. She was having the most wonderful dream and her alarm had to just go and ruin it. She stood up and went to take a quick shower.

When she got out, she put on the clothes she had left out last night; some low rise jeans with holes in them, a green wifebeater with a yellow one underneath, and some white tennis shoes.

She hurriedly brushed and straightened her hair, and put on some mascara, eyeliner, and white eye shadow before she went downstairs for a quick meal.

She went in the semi-small living room that was dimly lit, and put on her green and yellow track jacket, put her keys in the right pocket, and put her purse on her shoulder.

She then went back in the kitchen, grabbed a strawberry pop tart, and leaned against the counter while she ate it.

"Where's dad?" She asked her mother, who was sitting down at the table drinking orange juice and eating cinnamon bread.

"Upstairs, fixing the sink." Her mother told her. Emily set down her pop tart on the counter and rushed upstairs to the bathroom. Inside, her dad was leaned over, his head under the sink.

"I'm leaving." She told him. He backed out from under the sink, and stood up. He hugged his daughter.

"I'm going to miss you." He said, letting go of her. She told him bye and then ran to her room to get her trunk and carry on bag. After a few minutes of struggling to get it down the stairs, she finally got it to the bottom. She sat down on it for a second, resting.

Her mom came in the room and hugged her.

"Have a good time!" she said, squeezing her.

"Mom, I can't breathe!" She chocked out from under her mom's tight grip. Her mother let her go, and Emily inhaled deeply.

"You're going to come back for winter break, aren't you?" Asked Mrs. Arthur.

"I probably will, but if not I'll let you know."

And with that she put her purse back on her shoulder, and picked up her suitcase and carry on bag and took it out to her car. She waved one last time before she took off for King's Cross Station.
