Hinata Sou was quiet the girls were off buying stuff for Keitaro's party. It had been a year since they had seen him. The girls were rushing about getting ready for his return. Naru was pushing the shopping cart down an aisle looking over the baby food. She smiled as the twins began to giggle as they caught sight of Su dancing about.
Each girl still loved Keitaro in there own way. Su, Shinobu, and Sara were big sisters to the twins while Kitsune, Motoko, and Mutsumi were aunts. Glancing down at her children Naru smiled as she reached down and absently placed the pacifier back in the mouth of the little boy as he sat there staring at everything. His little sister was asleep in the carrier. Naru felt a soft smile grace her lips as she gazed at her sleeping daughter.
Her gaze drifted off into space as she glanced at the clock counting off time. Hurry home my love we miss you. She sighed and made her selection moving to join the others as they rounded up the last of their supplies.

30,000 feet above them Keitaro was staring absently at the photo sent to him of his wife and kids just a few months ago. He felt his heart swell with pride. Smiling he put the photo back into the inside pocket of the lab coats he had taken a fancy to wearing. He was about to place the earphones to his MP3 player in his ears when the intercom crackled to life.

The Hinata Sou was quiet when the girls were gone. Tama glided about enjoying the silence and for once not being chased by the hyper active mad scientist. AS she flew about the common room she was startled when the phone rang. She glided over to the small cabinet that held the phone and answering machine. After a couple of rings the answering machine picked up.
(Hello, if you're there pick up the phone.)
Tama recognized the voice as Keitaro spoke quickly.
(I'm calling from 30,000 feet above you.)
(The captains just informed us that our plane is going down so I'm calling for one last time to say I love you I'm not certain how much time I have left, so I'll be brief.)
(I'm sorry if this message only amplifies your grief.)
(But I couldn't bear the burden of never having said good bye.)
(And the pain you feel, I promise you, will go away with time I'm sorry I won't be there to see our children grow.)
(Please tell them that I love them more than they will ever know.)
(Tell my family and friends how much I loved them all as well.)
(I'm sure that we will meet again, but only time will tell I'm sorry most of all I won't be there when you grow old.)
(To be there by your side and keep you warm when you are cold.)
(Forgive me, but I think my time is drawing to a close)
(So I've one last thing to tell you now before I go.)
(I L…)
Static fills the answering machine till it shuts off and rewinds the tape containing Keitaro's final farewell.
As the machine chimes signifying a new message the front door opens to allow the burdened girls to enter as Naru carries her children inside. She glances over and sees the flashing light and reaches out to turn on the machine and replay it's message.
