Poem To Ponder

By: Wolfee

"...Your homework class is to write a poem about poetry." announced Mr. Lancer. "It does not have to rhyme either." The bell rang signaling the end of class.

Everybody made a run for the door except for three teens, Danny, Sam, and Tucker. They walked slowly until they were stopped by Mr. Lancer.

"I expect something from you this homework assignment, Mr. Fenton."

"Will do Mr. Lancer." All three of the teens left.

--------

Danny sat in his room by himself. He wasn't really a poet, so this was one of the hardest assignments he received all year. Well, at least it was to him. After just staring off into space for the umpteenth time, something came to mind. Danny smiled to himself then began to move his pencil.

--------

"I'm very surprised Mr. Fenton." Mr. Lancer said as he went around checking everyones homework. So far only two people hadn't done it, not to mention any names -cough-Dash and Paulina-cough-. "Ok class everyone will be reading their poems aloud to the whole class, except those who did not do it. Mr. Lancer sent a glare to the two teens who shall not be named. (A/N: LOL!) After a long 30 minutes everyone, but Danny had gone. "Mr. Fenton,
will you please come up and read yours?"

Danny stood up and cousiously made his way up to the front of the room. He was dreading this moment. Sighing heavily, he began to read what he had written.

"What is Poetry?"

They sat in their room thinking, writing, wondering.
'What is Poetry?'
Poetry is loving yet can be tragic,
action but still lifeless.
Writing plus thinking equaling poetry.
If not flowing,
then what?

Finally, they wrote

'Poetry,
tragic and heart-warming,
action and lifeless.
It's all the same.
Write what you think,
write what you feel'
Putting down their pencil,
Accomplishing 'What is Poetry?'

Every one clapped even Mr. Lancer. "Great job Mr. Fenton, now please take your seat"

--------

"Danny, that was awesome in English class!" Tucker said.

"I really liked it, how did you come up with that?"

"I don't know, it took about 15 minutes of spacing out, but then that just came to me. You really think I did good Sam?"

Sam blushed. "Yeah, it was nice." Danny thought for a moment. "What?"

"Oh nothing." Tucker smirked at the two.

--------

That night before Danny went to bed, he wrote another peom, but not for class, but for Sam.
When he had finished, he was sure she would love it. Changing in to his ghost form, Danny flew over to Sam's house and layed it on her pillow, then vanished.

Sam walked into her room, noticing the paper on her pillow. She picked it up and read it.

Alone, she sits waiting, watching, and listening.
Wanting more than just to live.
Fearing the light,
welcoming in the dark,
she sits on her bed.
Till one boy,
with all his heart,
comes out and says:
'I Love You'.

-Danny

Sam smiles and puts it in a place where she can never forget it and will always remember it.

Did you like the poems? I made them all by myself. This was just like an appitizer(sp) for my other stories. Sorry I haven't updated for awhile, but this weekend may be my updating week-
end because I am off of school from Friday to Tuesday! Yay! Remember R&R also NO FLAMES!
