Three
Totakeke finally had what he'd wanted. And that was fame and stardom. Of course, he'd enjoyed the small following that live night shows busking around towns brought him - but he wanted more. They gave him more. They were the ones who made his dream happen. But… They were the ones who brought his dreams crashing to the bitter end.
Totakeke was given stages at least four times a week to perform to huge live audiences. He'd loved it at first. Hundreds of screaming fans, photo shoots for newspapers, appearances on T.V, T-shirts with your face on them… It really had all been too good to be true.
He sighed once more, staring down at the yellowing grass below his tiny white paws. Everyone now rejected him. His fame was well and truly over. Nobody cared.
A tear rolled down his face. He now felt guilty and stupid. How could he have sold himself out to be something he wasn't? Why did he leave his two bestest friends in the whole world for a little bit of glory? Was fame and money really more important than family and friends?
All these questions circled wildly around Totakeke's brain, faster and faster. His head span around, thoughts screaming, noises of centuries blaring.
And everything went black.
Totakeke slowly looked up. His nose was buried in the grass, the smell of mould and mildew overpowering his senses. He was almost sick, but he quickly stood up and tried to breathe in some fresh air.
Once again, his attention was turned to the night sky above. The two silver shining Ks shone down on his head, guiding his way.
Home.
"I am K.K. Slider."
Totakeke slung his guitar over his shoulder and breathed in a sigh of relief. He turned back once - just taking in a final glance of the deserted stage behind him; littered with debris of soda cans and broken dreams, then turned back to the beacon of hope.
He would go back home. Friends really were the most important thing.
"I'm coming back to you." He said. "You know I said I'd always remember you - well, I haven't forgot yet." Totakeke nodded and set off walking.
He knew he had to go back.
