Sora was on the lookout for a special girl. One with flaxen hair, the color of the stars in the sky. She shone just as brightly as those stars, in any case. He loved her… Or at least liked her; liked her a lot, and he planned to let her know. Sooner or later. Maybe today.
And then he'd fallen asleep. Which just kind of ruined everything. Except… maybe it hadn't. Because she was standing right above him when he opened his eyes. Like an angel. His angel. If only he could tell her. But nothing was coming out of his mouth.
"Sora?" She was smiling.
"Naminé! I was looking for you but then I fell asleep and then suddenly oh my god you're right here and I mean wow-" She was laughing, now. He could take a hint. He shut up.
Breathe in, breathe out.
She looked like she was waiting for him to say something. Maybe she was, but he had no idea what to say. Or maybe he did. But was that the right thing to say? He had nothing to lose, anyway. So Sora took a deep breath and…
"HeyNaminéIlikeyouImeanIreallylikeyouImeanyouknowIthinkIalmostloveyoulikeyou."
Naminé blinked. "Um… Pardon? Sora, are you okay?"
Okay. So maybe she hadn't quite understood him… Although he didn't know why not. But she hadn't, so he'd have to tell her again. Or something. Except he didn't quite have to guts to anymore.
From far in the distance, somebody yelled out, "Naminé! Hey, Naminé!" It was Selphie. Nobody else had a voice like that. At least, he hoped not. And, just estimating, she'd be there in about two minutes. So he'd better tell Naminé… right now.
"Naminé, I… Well, I really like you." There, he'd said it. But what did she think?
She smiled at him again. She was so delicate; so angelic. And then she spoke…
"I'm sorry? I didn't quite catch that. I was wondering what Selphie was doing on that hill. Would you mind saying it again?"
One pair of blue orbs gazed into another…
Sora blinked.
Naminé was still smiling.
…
