Unmarked Grave

Beneath the shade of a billion sweeping trees on the outskirts of Twilight Town there lies an unmarked grave.

Okay, not unmarked, but it's certainly hard to miss if you're not looking for it.

It was just a cross. Nailed to a tree, with the deceased's name haphazardly carved across the horizontal portion of the wooden tomb marker.

The tree was still small, and Yuffie Kisaragi assumed that the corpse was buried beneath the tree.

In an uncharacteristically somber mood, she wondered if having the body of a human underneath made the tree grow better. She envisioned the roots of a tree wrapping around the body of a man and engulfing him, spiraling round and round on his arms and legs until they spread to each individual finger and toe, swallowing them as well.

"Vexen, huh...?" she reached out to sweep her fingers across the name on the cross, wondering why she felt so... peculiar.

She managed to crack a grin, though, and began to speak to the tree and the man. About everything, and nothing.

About Leon, Cloud, Aerith, Tifa, Cid, Merlin... Sora, Donald, and Goofy.

Although, when she mentioned Sora, she could've sworn the tree rattled in what little breeze was blowing.

"Y'know, Vexen," she said convsersationally, as she sat down at the base of the tree, "You're not bad."

She pulled a kunai from the small holster on her hip and idly ran her fingers across the sharp edge, and suddenly began to chuckle as the lowest branch on the tree was swept down by the wind to brush past her face.

She pulled herself to her feet and began to walk away, not looking back.

And just before she broke into a run, she turned around and hurled the kunai at the tree. The tip lodged itself right into the center of the 'x' in Vexen.

"Now you'll never forget the Great Ninja Yuffie, and I'll never forget you, Vexen!"

Beneath the shade of a billion sweeping trees on the outskirts of Twilight Town there lies a cross and a kunai–a tell-tale sign of the chance meeting of a Nobody and a ninja.

Notes: Yeah, this story is kinda weird... O.o And, I know, we all saw Vexen disintegrate in CoM... so, technically, he's not supposed to have a corpse. Deal with it, kay? x3 Enjoy!
