He had never felt this way before. A cold sweat covered his body and he shivered violently, yet the air hung thick with heat around him. A constant searing, burning pain bore at his wound as he staggered through it. Every raise of his legs, in a step, felt as though they were dragging with lead and his throat and mouth were so dry…so dry. It was strange the way everyone in front of him walked so easily and naturally yet he couldn't set his feet straight tripping and stumbling, the ground felt so uneven beneath his aching frame. But there is no way he would ever tell them. Not that pushy bitch, not her crew of miscreants, not Michael and Chui…he lifted his head slightly to look at Jin who was supporting him already…he wouldn't understand anyway. Foot after foot…shut up and keep moving…wish she'd shut up and keep moving.
He had never felt this way before. Would have been happy to die before…in a car or fight or killing the man he lived to destroy. But this was different. A feeling of recognition came over him as he realised at this moment all he wanted was to go back to their camp. He wanted to make it…home. He wanted to live to make it there. To challenge Jack…to go on pointless expeditions…to lie in his tent with his things…and Kate. He needed to see her again. Suddenly their voices reached his ears. Mike and Jin they were arguing…over carrying him.
"Look I'm fine! Just both of you leave me alone." He growled in annoyance regaining enough consciousness to move. He would not take pity from them. One step…two steps…three. His legs gave out and he fell, the ground seemingly rising to meet him. Sawyer…Sawyer…that's right…that's what they call me…he remembered opening his eyes now on his back. He could barely feel anything but weakness.
"Go on without me…" he tried to say but Michael cut him off.
"We're not gonna leave you" Mike argued firmly the only thing left still in focus.
"I left you…" he croaked feeling the world slip away from around him.
"Well it's a good thing I'm not you then" Michael answered with a smile on his face. He felt a strange warmth spread through his chest…like happiness…yeah it must be…He had never felt like this before…
