Disclaimer
I own nothing it's all Gibson's.
His fear tinged eyes locked with that of the young innocent child. She was the reason he was doing this. He felt the coarse rope brush against his skin. He had to end his life so the young pure beauty reflected in the child could become the roots of his very country.
He had never wanted to fight. He wanted to live in peace and raise a family. He fought and shed blood to gain this opportunity. It became his drive and purpose after he had lost his wife Murran. He loved her so much. She brought out such passionate emotions in him. He vowed to keep her safe but he had betrayed her. Killing the man who killed her did nothing to cease the deep empty ache he felt.
William focused all his love and passion he felt for her into fighting for his country.
Now he had to make the final sacrifice. William was afraid he feared death but it was a sacrifice he was willing to make. His fear made his actions all the stronger it showed the true devotion and dedication he had towards his country and most importantly freedom.
"Help me Lord I am so afraid."
He refused to take anything to numb the pain he knew he was to feel. If he did that then his actions would all be for nothing. His death and suffering represented the pain and suffering of his people. His death would free them from this.
As the noose cut into his neck cutting off his air supply he clung tight to the one remaining item that bonded him to Murran. He didn't think he could take this pain. He wanted to cry out to make it all stop.
"Kiss the royal emblem on my cloak and you shall feel no more"
He felt the soft material against his palm. He knew he had to go on. The final sacrifice had to be made.
"It can all end, right not, peace. Just say it cry out…mercy"
He could see her. She was a confirmation of why he was doing this. He had been so close to crying out but now he was filled with a strength. He gathered what energy he could and cried out his final word, "Freedom"
It was hard to hear but it held so much power that it seemed to echo all around them.
His life was ending. Through his death he had achieved not only the freedom of his county but his own personal freedom. He was now free to live in peace.
