"Chere, don't you think you're jumping the gun? Hank hasn't fully cleared you to go home yet." Remy spoke as he put his hands behind his head while he relaxed on her bed.

"Exactly!'Yet'! Once he gives me the okay, we're outta here sugah!" She said as she made her way to the bathroom to collect her toiletries.

Remy knew they were going home today, but he just couldn't help giving Rogue a hard time though. Keeping things light and fun when he could was the least he could do for her, for both of them. With the Guild waiting for them to reappear, he knew things wouldn't be as light and fun until they found out who was behind this attack. So far from the snippets that the members were dropping online, they gathered the bombing was definitely a professional job and the same people that were behind it were also behind what was happening with Rogue's power's. But as to what exactly happened to her powers is still up in the air. Between the guild, Remy and Rogue there were too many people and groups to narrow down exactly who was behind these attacks.

A timid knock roused him from his thoughts. Looking at his watch it showed it was only one in the afternoon, no one from the family was coming until five, and Hank wasn't going to be back until three. He had given them all the results he found from the recent tests he ran but one thing was stumping him so he wanted to meet with a colleague to confirm his findings. Remy rose quietly, with his guard up, he slowly made his way to the door.

"You expecting anyone cherie?" He called out to her just in case she knew who it was and forgot to tell him.

"Not anyone you don't already know about sug." she called from the bathroom.

Peeking passed the blinds he sighed when he saw who was standing there. Well this was something he was hoping to put off until later, or maybe not even deal with at all. He opened the door and took a step into the hallway. He'd be damned if he let just anyone near the love of his life again. Even knowing that most people were trying to help her, he knew from past experience that not everyone's intentions were what they seemed.

"What you want blue?" He asked crossing his arms over his chest, his eyes glowing into a simmering rage. He knew Kurt was only trying to help Rogue at the time, but by bringing Jean into the picture he nearly lost her. Lost her to someone else's error, and that wasn't something he could forgive or forget so freely.

"I was hoping to talk to Rogue." Kurt spoke glancing down at the ground while rubbing the back of his neck. He was ashamed that Jean had played him so easily, but as soon as he heard that Rogue was on the premises let alone that her life was at stake he couldn't think passed helping Rogue as fast as possible.

"Why?"

Kurt looked up at Remy. At the man that Rogue had left in the middle of the night with all those years ago. At the man that was there for her when he wasn't because he was too busy being selfish. He knew that he had a right to be mad at her for what she had done to Mystique, but after hearing Rogue had left in the middle of the night he knew he was wrong that he ignored her for so long so carelessly. He knew it was wrong that he didn't try to help her when he could clearly see that she was suffering, that it was petty to let others ignore her.

Mystique was his mother by blood and by birth but she wasn't his family. He learned long ago what family truly meant and the way he ended up treating Rogue had been far from like family. In the last six years when he thought of Rogue, he put himself in her shoes and he realized that after the way Mystique kept using her he knew he wouldn't be able to say he wouldn't have done the same thing Rogue had done to her.

"I need to talk to her." Kurt repeated. After seeing the way Remy was with Rogue, Kurt fully understood there was a strong relationship between the two, but he wasn't willing to pour his heart out to an ex-acolyte and virtual stranger.

Remy sighed as he shook his head 'no' and began to turn towards the door.

"I want to apologize to her." Kurt spoke quickly realizing he wouldn't get anywhere near Rogue without explaining himself to Gambit. He looked to up to see he still stood there facing the door. Kurt sighed and began to fiddle with his hands.

"I want to tell her how sorry I am for being such a terrible brother all those years ago. That I'm sorry that all I could think about back then was myself. I realize now how much pain she had been going through back then and I'm sorry for not helping her through it. When she tried reaching out to me all I did was blame her, push her away and add to her grief." He didn't want to open up this much to Gambit but once he started he couldn't help that it all just started to pour out. He had been keeping this all to himself and he didn't realize how much it meant to him to let it out, even if it wasn't to Rogue. He began to tear up as he continued. "She may be my half sister but she had always treated me like we were more than that. She opened up to me and trusted me and I know how hard that was for her, but I still treated her like crap in the end. Especially when she needed me the most. Through all the time we had known each other, she never once made me feel terrible or ashamed about anything I've done and I was always doing stupid crap. But out of everything I'm utmost sorry for is that I made sure she had felt terrible and ashamed of herself. I had no right to do that to her and I'm so so very sorry." Kurt began to sob at the floor. He hated that the relationship Rogue had started to build with him had been severed because he couldn't see passed himself. He hated that he pushed away his only true family because of a woman he didn't really care about or even know. But what he did know was that he loved Rogue and that he wanted to be apart of her life again no matter what it took.

"Please," He sobbed quietly without looking up. "Please let me talk to her."

That's when he heard the door shut, he covered his hands with his face as he lost all control over his emotions. He knew that was his last chance. If he couldn't get passed Gambit then there was no way he was going to see Rogue. His shoulders trembled out of sadness, remorse and grief he had never felt before. He pulled his hands away to wipe his tears on his sleeves, but a soft warm hand grazed his cheek before he could reach his face. He looked up into the tear stained eyes of his sister. She smiled softly at him as she wiped at his wet cheeks.

"I forgive you hon." She spoke softly as she finished wiping away his tears then wrapped her arms around his shoulders to hug him. He grabbed onto her shoulders and held her tightly.

"How much of that did you hear?" He asked into her shirt not wanting to let go.

"The whole thing sugah. I was standing on the other side of the door when Remy asked what you wanted." she gave him a quick squeeze before pulling back to look him in the eyes. "I'm sorry you were holding onto this for so long but you need to know I'll never stop being your sister."

He stared at her for a moment before he laughed lightly and wiped his face.

"You truly are amazing Rogue. I come here to apologize for being such a shithead brother, you accept my apology and you're sorry that I had felt bad for all these years." He pulled her into another hug as he squeezed his eyes shut and sighed over her shoulder. "I love you Rogue. I really don't deserve a sister like you."

"Ain't that the truth." a husky voice said behind them making Rogue roll her eyes with a smile.

"I love you too Kurt. Ignore Remy, he's not used to being cooped up for so long, he's lost his manners."
