Chapter 7

Author's Note: Well thank you for the reviews once again and I hope you liked the last chapter. As you can tell this story is still going to be going on. I was only testing those who loved my story so far what they think, and I can tell people would kill me if I killed off my main characters like in the movie Stranger Than Fiction. But no, I am not like that. I just love happy endings. Now please, enjoy this chapter as much as the last.

Again, I am sorry for this long delay in the story. Unfortunately this will be the last chapter for Trouble or Trouble.. I am working on some other stuff at the moment and hope to have those up as well. We shall see how that goes. And keep an eye out for my new FanFics posting up within the next few months. Happy reading!

Disclaimer: I do NOT own Inuyasha, the show or any of the other characters. I am simply using background information and the characters to write a story for Inu/Kag fans to enjoy. Thank you!

"Pregnant?" Kagome cried out. It was the only thing she think to do. Someone had been in her room while Inuyasha was not. She only wished it were Inuyasha's so that she could scald him, but it wasn't. Tears flooded her face and she collapsed into Inuyasha's lap.

"That damn wolf. I really am gonna kill him," Inuyasha softly growled. Kagome knew that that was probably who it was. He probably came in for a second try when Inuyasha wasn't here and he probably succeeded. Ha, it looks like he already did. More tears ran down her now pale cheeks.

"Now, Miss Higuarishi, there really is no reason for you to cry, an abortion will save from this embarrassment if you'd like," he explained, trying to make the matter better, but wasn't.

"It's not that. I just can't kill an unborn child, it's just plain wrong," she choked out softly and quickly. She turned around and buried her face in Inuyasha's chest, while breaking down with a new tone of sobs.

Inuyasha looked to the point of breaking every single object in the room. She knew that they were thinking the same thing. Pregnancy was something she just did not need right now. First a coma and now pregnancy. What was wrong with the world? Did He know about this? Was this all a part of His master plan with her life?
She couldn't decide on what to do. Thoughts just weren't forming.

Inuyasha just wanted to break that damn dog's neck. He hated him enough already, but this, this just brought murder and death to mind. This was the last straw.
"Inuyasha," Kagome whispered softly. "Please don't do anything rash. Stay with me, I need you here." Then she put her head back onto his chest, hugging him as tight as she could muster.
He sighed and hugged her back. "I'll stay," he whispered.
But something has to be done about Kouga, he thought.
"Sir," the doctor started, "can I speak with you outside? I know you're in recovery, but I'm sure you can make it outside the room." The doctor went outside the room waiting for Inuyasha.
Inuyasha pulled Kagome back and kissed her forehead. "I'll be back in just a few minutes. Let me speak with the doc here and see what he wants. Then I'll hold you in the bed until we can get you home."

Inuyasha stood, tucked Kagome in the bed, and headed out of the room slowly. As he got to the door, he turned and smiled at Kagome.

"Doc, you wanted to speak?" he asked, sitting in the chair outside the room.
The doctor sighed and rubbed his temples. "I didn't want to worry Miss Higurashi, but it appears that she's pregnant with twins. Now I understand that this was not your doing, but she is going to be considered having a high-risk pregnancy. She will need to be monitored more closely than a normal pregnancy. Abortion is available with how far along she is, if she wants it. However, I understand that she doesn't want that. Adoption is the next step. She will need to go through with the pregnancy and try to find a home beforehand or just put the children in an orphanage after birth."
Inuyasha sat there shocked. Twins. It was a lot to take in. No wonder he didn't want Kagome to know. She just came out of a coma and found out she was pregnant, but telling her it was with twins would probably break her.

"I can say they are mine, correct? If we, I mean she, decide to keep them? I am with her on no abortion, but we have the option of me saying I'm the father. I think I can help her through it if need be." Inuyasha had a look of hope and fear in his eyes. He was certain the doctor saw that and his answer was a smile of assurance.

The doctor patted his shoulder and left him sitting outside to ponder more on this new revelation. How was he going to tell Kagome? What would her mother say? They wouldn't tell her. That was his decision on that subject.

Kagome's mother had wanted to pull the plug on her daughter, her own flesh and blood. She didn't want to give her a chance. What would she do if she knew Kagome was pregnant, and that it was due to a rape?

Quickly he stood and went in the room to tend to Kagome before anyone else showed up. He needed to let her know about her mother.
_

Kagome wondered what the doctor had to tell Inuyasha that she couldn't hear. Perhaps she would ask him when he came back. Surely he would let her know.
She was going to speak when he walked in, but he was smiling the sweetest smile and she couldn't help but smile back at him. She was warned about Inuyasha when school started, however, she didn't take those warnings. She fell for him and she was still falling. Only this time, out of a coma.

"Everything is okay," he smiled at her. "But there is one thing I think we should keep between ourselves." He paused waiting for her to respond, but she only nodded. "The pregnancy, we should keep it between us. Don't tell your mother. I don't think she will take it well and push you to an abortion or worse. We can tell her later on, maybe when we get a place of our own?"

Kagome smiled and couldn't believe it. He was asking her to move in with him. "When?" was all she asked and he embraced her tightly.
"As soon as I can save up some money to move into an apartment. We can get the emancipation papers ready for you and myself. I think we can do this, and I think," he paused taking a breath, Kagome waited patiently on his every word, "I mean, I would like to keep the child as our own. I think that would be the right thing to do. I'll be its father."
She sat there staring into his eyes, taking in his words. She sat there for a good 15 minutes without saying a word, just stunned by his admission.

Finally she spoke, "You would take on that? Knowing that it isn't truly your child? Knowing whose child it is?" She looked into his eyes to see what they would say, but she only saw love and tenderness.

"Yes," he started, "because I will know in my heart that it is mine. I will know that I was the one there to provide and protect and love the child, our child." He smiled and gently stroked her cheek with the back of his fingers.
"Okay." She had a single tear fall down her cheek, but it wasn't one of sadness. It was a tear of hope, a tear for the future, their future. "Let the doctor know to not inform my mother." Then she laid down and closed her eyes to get some much needed sleep after her news today.
_

Inuyasha tucked her in and pressed the nurses' button to get the doctor in as soon as possible to let him know their decision.

The doctor arrived five minutes later and told Inuyasha that this would be between them, that Ms. Higurashi wouldn't know about the pregnancy, only that her daughter was awake from her coma.
Inuyasha sat with ease in the bed with Kagome while she laid against him. He was happy with the decision that they had come up with. He even told the doctor to not let Kagome know about the twins until they went into an ultrasound appointment next month. By that time they would be together in their own apartment and would start getting baby gear ready.

Two weeks later Inuyasha had found a cute little one-bedroom apartment for the two of them. Kagome was excited to be out of the hospital, finally away from the IVs and nurses and monitoring.

Today was the day they were moving things into the apartment and it was a beautiful day. Her mother had cried when she heard of Kagome moving and almost didn't allow her to, but agreed reluctantly. Kagome didn't care, she would have left anyway. Her mother had kept so much from her, she had given up on her and even her father.

But, today was a day of happiness. She was moving in with the boy she loved and starting a family, a new life. Granted it was a bit earlier than she had expected, but she was happy.
Inuyasha walked inside the apartment putting down more boxes. He was determined to not let her pick up any boxes. He had let her pack and unpack, but no heavy lifting. She smiled and couldn't help but laugh at times when he struggled.

"Are you sure I can't help bring any light things? Surely I'm not that far along to be helpless," she teased him, like she had for the past few days.
He grunted with the weight of the boxes and bags he brought up. "I'm fine, you just sit there and relax."

"I'll be relaxing months before the baby is born, let me help with something," she pleaded.

"You can help with the unpacking and deciding on where things go, as soon… as soon as I bring in all these boxes. I'll have the bed set up and TV, but you can put everything where you want it." And with that, he went on bringing in the last of the boxes and bags.

Inuyasha was nervous. He was moving in with Kagome, it was official, and they hadn't even done anything yet but kiss. He swore though that he would marry her when she turned eighteen. That was a year or so away. But he was determined to follow through with it, he just needed to get her a ring worthy of her. She had survived so much.

He had done all the work moving all of their things into their new home. And he was content with that, life was turning around for both of them, especially him.

"Inuyasha, please sit and relax. I think you're overworking yourself," Kagome pleaded with him. He stopped and watched as she smiled at his struggle.

He smiled back at her and sat down on the floor in front of her chair. He sighed as she ran his fingers through his hair gently. Inuyasha couldn't have asked for a better start to his life, to their life.

"Miss Higurashi, congratulations," the doctor started, "you're having twins! Now we will need to see you every two weeks. Under normal circumstances it would be a month, but you need to be under watch more closely." The doctor paused waiting for them to take in the news.

Inuyasha had expected Kagome to be in shock or upset, but she smiled and rubbed her belly. "That's wonderful news. Instead of giving me a life, He has given me two."

Kagome looked up at Inuyasha and smiled at him, and all he saw was pure joy, pure love in her eyes. He smiled back and put his hand on top of hers.
"Now, let's see about your next appointment. Since everything is doing well so far with your pregnancy, we shall see you in two weeks. Keep her safe, Inuyasha." And with that the doctor walked out of the room.

Inuyasha stared at Kagome, waiting for her to say something. Instead she had a silly little grin on her face.

"Are you okay with this? I know you said before that you were, but with two in the equation. Are you still okay with our decision?" she asked softly.

"Yes." That was all he said as he embraced her.

A few minutes passed before they walked out of the room and to the receptionist to set up their next appointment.

"Since we have the rest of the day off from class, let's go out to eat. I'll have Sango or Miroku drop off our assignments for the day." He grabbed her hand and led her to the car.

"You are truly different than what everyone said about you. I'm glad about that, I truly am," she said as they drove off down the street in search of food.

Once at Garfiel's, Inuyasha ordered a medium rare steak with shrimp and Kagome ordered bourbon chicken with loaded mashed potatoes and baked mac and cheese. It was a lunch to die for. Juicy chicken, cheesy macaroni, and savory potatoes. Her taste buds erupted with the intense flavor of the food she ordered.

She had not expected food to taste this good. Everything they were eating up to this point was okay, no intense splash of flavor like this. Perhaps it was due to her getting further along in her pregnancy or it was actually eating real food, she didn't know. She didn't care.

Inuyasha laughed at her moans. "Is that … hehe … good?" he asked.

"Shut … up," she said between bites. "You … ah … have no idea … hmmm … how delicious this tastes. It's like heaven in my mouth."

They both burst out in laughter at the pure joy from a meal out together. Inuyasha thought how crazy it was that bad things had been thrown his way his entire life, and now life had thrown him a curve ball. Everything had done a one-eighty and for that he was grateful.

"I love you," he said, a smile plastered to his face.

Kagome smiled. These past few weeks were shaky, but perfect. She wouldn't change a thing. She was pregnant with twins, and Inuyasha was taking the responsibility of being the father, despite the fact that they were Kouga's blood.

"I love you too," she started. "I couldn't ask for anyone better to love and take care of me, to take care of us," she smiled as she placed a hand on her belly.

She watched as Inuyasha smiled back and scoot towards her and place his hand on top of hers. "And I wouldn't ask for anything less." He kissed her lips softly, a smile on both of their faces.

As the day went on, Kagome tried to figure out her homework situation. She was going to be missing school more often due to these doctor's visits and soon after she had the babies. She thought about doing online classes with the high school, but she wanted to go to class. To see her friends, to interact with people before life got hectic with parenthood.

Inuyasha wanted her to stay at home and avoid school and the whispers of the student body behind her back, but she could not do that. She needed something to keep her busy. And school was the thing for that at this time.

A month passed and Kagome was already at that three month mark, starting her second trimester. She was feeling morning sickness more so than she thought she would. Her teachers weren't that nice about letting her leave the classrooms when she felt that nausea.

After a while, she had just ran out of the classroom and into a bathroom to throw up.

Her pregnancy just seemed to hinder things in her life. Her school grades were started to drop and she wasn't even that far along. She still had six months left and she didn't think she could make it.

"Miss Higurashi, please report to the office," the intercom went off. "Miss Higurashi to the office."

Kagome sighed and picked up her bag from the floor and headed towards the office. She took her time to get there; her belly was just weighing her down and making her sluggish.

She made it to the front office only to be scolded.

"Miss Higurashi, when you are called to the office, you come at once," the secretary scolded her. She did not look pleased in the slightest.

Kagome didn't know what to say, and only wished Inuyasha was there with her. "I'm sorry. But I can only move so fast when I have little pains in my stomach," she explained.

"Excuses," the secretary muttered. "This way, you are needed in the principal's office." She led Kagome to the principal's office, only to see her mother sitting in a chair across.

This was bad, very bad. Kagome and Inuyasha had decided to not inform her mother of the pregnancy, especially with it being with twins. Surely the school hadn't told. She was getting bigger by the day, but she didn't think it was that noticeable to inform her mother.

Inuyasha wondered why the office would need Kagome. It's not like she was going against any of the school rules. She was a good student.

He asked to be excused from his class for the restroom, only to head towards the office.

"… needed in the principal's office," he heard the secretary say to Kagome as he got to the door. He looked through the principal's door to see Kagome's mother.

This could only mean one thing: Kagome's mother somehow found out about Kagome's pregnancy.

"Kagome," Inuyasha whispered. He watched as she turned around, fear written across her face.

He walked towards her and embraced her. "It'll be okay, I can go in with you only if you want me to," he whispered into her hair.

"If I need you, I'll let you know," she replied. "I'm just scared of what will happen. I'm not sure how to explain to her."

"Just tell her that I'm the father, if that makes it easier," he told her. She looked up at him and nodded, and went towards the principal's office.

Inuyasha sat down in a chair in view of the principal's office awaiting Kagome's signal of help.

Kagome was thankful Inuyasha had shown up, she needed his strength to get through this ordeal with her mother.

Cautiously she made her way inside. Her mother didn't even move to look at her. Okay, that's not good, she thought.

"Please, take a seat Miss Higurashi," the principal said, taking his own seat in front of them.

Kagome was nervous, silence permeated the air around them.
"Now," he began, breaking the silence. "We have called this meeting in regards to you Kagome. It appears that your grades are starting to falter from their normal A status. You are also leaving your classes without passes and without warning. This is cause for alarm and possible suspension." He paused, waiting for Kagome and her mother to take it all in.

Kagome decided to say something first, before her mother had a chance. "Then why is my mother here? Why couldn't you just come to me without her here? Surely you realize that I recently came out of a coma and I may be a bit behind on getting back into the swing of things." She raised her left eyebrow, waiting for an answer. She was not going to do the pregnancy news if she didn't have to.

The principal took a deep breath before talking. "Well," he paused again. "I suppose we hadn't taken that into effect. However, why are you leaving the classroom without a note every day?"

"Side effects of my medication I'm prescribed. I haven't been feeling well either. It's just a simple stomach virus, I didn't want to miss anymore school than I've already missed," she bluffed, hoping he took it.

Her mother remained silent, glaring a hole into the floor at her feet. Was she going to remain that way the entire time? If that were the case, why even show up?

She noticed her mother shake her head, stand and leave without a word. Was Kagome in the clear?

She thought she was until she heard a slap from outside the office. Kagome turned and noticed Inuyasha standing there with a red handprint on his left cheek and her mother walking out of the office.

The principal stood there in shock, looking between Kagome and Inuyasha. Maybe her mother knew without being told. "You can leave now, sorry for the trouble, just let someone know when you need to leave from now on," he told her, holding his hand out for her to leave.

Kagome walked over to Inuyasha, taking his hand and walking out of the office.

"Did you tell her?" he asked.

"No, I told them I was having side effects from medicine and my grades slipping was due to me trying to get used to school still after my coma. Nothing about this," she explained, rubbing her belly.

He held her hand, taking her bag and leading them out of the school. "Let's get out of here, Sango and Miroku are coming by later tonight and they can bring all your notes for the last two classes."

As they made it to his car, he spoke again, "I think you should consider doing online classes and try to graduate early. You're starting to show more and the doctor said symptoms could get worse. Please reconsider this, for me?" He looked sincere, he truly did care and she loved him more for it.

"I'll consider it. I would like to stay for a bit longer though if I decide to do this. I want to see how much I can get done here and speak to someone about doing this to graduate early. For us," she told him, receiving a smile from him.

"Thank you," he said, starting the car and heading home.

Kagome watched him as he drove. He was so worried, more so than she was. She understood that anything could happen with this pregnancy, early labor was possible, but not this early. She thought he needed to just calm down and relax more. His stress was starting to rub off on her, but she wasn't going to tell him that. It would only leave him more stressed and bring him more worry.

She reached over to hold his hand, smiling at him. "It'll all be okay," she assured him, squeezing his hand gently. In doing that, she was reassuring herself that everything would work out as well.

A few weeks had passed and Kagome had gotten the approval of graduating early before her pregnancy neared its end. She was excited and scared all at once, but she knew she could do it. This was for herself, for Inuyasha, and for her children.

The school counselor assured her that all would work out, and if she had any problems to see her. For Kagome this was what was best for her to be doing so she had less stress on herself.

"Do you need any help? I can do that for you if you want," Inuyasha pestered Kagome for the tenth time that night.

Kagome smiled, "No, I don't need help. And besides, I'm smarter than you anyway. I do, however, need to go to the school and turn in a project."

Inuyasha looked at her with concern and worry. "Are you sure about that? I mean, why can't you just turn it in online? Shouldn't that work?"

"Yes," Kagome sighed, "but I want to actually ask one of my old teachers if I did this correctly. I didn't have any partner in doing this and my mind isn't 100 percent in the school game right now."

He nodded in understanding and informed her that he would like to take her. Kagome smiled, not wanting it any other way.

2 MONTHS LATER

Kagome was now at the six month mark in her pregnancy, with only three months to go (or 12 weeks left). She managed to get all of her school work finished and graduated with good grades and a diploma to be arriving within a few weeks. She was happy to have that stress off her back and now only had to worry about the pregnancy and getting everything together for the babies.

Today Inuyasha had decided to take her out to start buying the cribs and everything the babies and Kagome could want to be happy and comfortable.

"Now I think we should just get one dresser, but have it big enough for the clothes for both kids," he suggested.

Kagome smiled and agreed, but informed him they could not share a crib, they needed their own beds. But maybe one bassinet big enough for the two of them may work for a few months.

She knew they were tight on cash and no one had really gotten her anything or even threw her a baby shower. Sango was the only one really, and she was thankful for even that. Kagome was happy to be spending this time with Inuyasha because she knew that when the babies arrived, there would be less alone time for the two of them.

A few hours later they were still looking at things for the babies: clothes, diapers, bottles, a breast pump, etc.

Inuyasha looked down worriedly, "Kagome, did you just… uh, I mean, do you need to go to the bathroom or, well, home?"

Kagome looked up at him confusion on her face, then pain. Her hands flew to her stomach and she slowly fell to the ground, wincing and letting out a little scream of discomfort. Tears filled her eyes. "Not now, please no. It's too… AAAH… early."

A sales rep at the store saw the commotion and ran over asking if everything was okay. Inuyasha yelled at him, making Kagome scream a little bit more.

"Hospital… aaah… ambulance… need help…" she managed between screams of pain. Nothing was on her mind but the safety of her children and getting to a hospital.

The rep called an ambulance and managed to get her into a comfortable chair they had to ease her pain, but it didn't seem to help. Inuyasha was freaking out, Kagome was crying.

The EMT showed up within a few minutes and quickly, but carefully, got Kagome onto a stretcher with Inuyasha at her side.

"It's okay, it'll be just fine," Inuyasha assured her over the wail of the sirens. The EMTs nodded in agreement and set to work on getting her IVs and monitors set up.

10 minutes and they were at the hospital being rushed to the maternity wing for delivery. Her doctor was called immediately upon entering the ambulance and a few other specialty doctors for premature births and if any complications arose.

"Now, Miss Higurashi," the doctor began. "I'm going to be giving you an epideral in just a few minutes. It'll stop the pain and let you have an easier time handling the labor. I just need to check to see how dilated you are first."

Kagome nodded as the doctor looked between her legs. He let her know that all looked well, but it seemed that the babies were sideways and they needed to somehow be moved. "If we aren't able to move them, then we will have to do a cesarean section."

Kagome nodded, "As long as they are born healthy, do what you must."

The nurses started gathering up the monitors and IVs and pushed her to the OR to have the cesarean. Kagome was scared and didn't really want to have the birth of her children this way, but it was the safest bet right now with how they were placed. Inuyasha followed behind and was getting into scrubs on his way to the OR as well, in order to hold her hand throughout the entire procedure.

When they got into the OR, they put Kagome under anesthesia and started the procedure. It was tricky as there were two babies involved and they were going to be premature at that.

Inuyasha began to panic at the sight of all the blood when they cut Kagome open. "Doc, is that normal? All that blood? It even smells like a lot more." Concern etched his face, worry shot up as soon as the monitors started beeping violently.

Nurses shot forward and pushed Inuyasha out of the way, asking him to leave the room. His questions kept being unanswered as they pushed him out of the room. He paced back and forth praying for her safety and the safety of their children.

Tears flowed down his cheeks as he pushed away the fear and negative thoughts from his mind, but they kept creeping back. This could not happen, not when they found each other.

A few hours passed before any news arrived from the waiting area outside the OR where Inuyasha was waiting.

"Sir," the nurse started.

"How are they? Where's Kagome? Are the twins okay?" Inuyasha bombarded her with questions.

She looked down, a tear fell from her cheek. "The, uh, twins are fine, sir. They are in the NICU and can be seen as soon as you want." She started to turn away and Inuyasha stood up.

"And Kagome? She's okay, right? She's in recovery, right?" The nurse didn't answer. "Answer me. Please, answer me. Answer me!"

The doctor ran out and told the nurse to check on the babies. "Sir, there was a complication with the surgery. Miss Higurashi was bleeding out too much, she lost a lot of blood. The babies, we managed to get them out safely and put into NICU for observation. They will need to stay there for the next few months. As for the mother, she did not make it. We tried all we could. I am sorry for your loss."

With that said, the doctor turned around and walked away, leaving Inuyasha standing there shocked and in tears. He fell to the floor, gripping his legs as the tears fell down his face and onto the floor. A few nurses stopped and gave him their condolences, but they were just empty words to him. The love of his life, the person that calmed him, was forever gone from his life. He lost her once, only to get her back to lose her again? He cursed God or whoever was in charge up there, upset that he was being played like this. Why tease a person like that, only to have to rubbed in their face that they can't actually have the happiness they deserve?

Inuyasha stood and headed towards the NICU to see his twins. He had to be strong for them. They would never know what a great person their mother was, unless they were told from this day forward. And he would tell them, every day. No matter what.

As he entered the room, he couldn't help but smile and cry at the same time. They were beautiful, a boy and a girl. The boy had Kagome's dark raven hair and the girl had icy white hair. They may have been twins, but their hair showed them as opposite.

A nurse walked in and smiled at him, "Have you decided any names yet, sir?"

He had. "Yes, Tsukiko for my girl, my little moon child, and Yuuko for my boy, my little evening child."

"Beautiful," she said.

"Thank you." He was happy, yet still sad. He knew Kagome would be watching over them like she had for him while she was in a coma. Only this time she wouldn't be able to come back. "Thank you, Kagome. For this beautiful gift. I will raise them as my own, they will know of you. I promise."

THE END…

AUTHORS NOTE: I am sorry for the way this ended, but for me, I could not really write anymore with it. I hope you enjoyed this story and perhaps one day I will get back into writing Inu/Kag FanFics. Right now I am working on several, so keep an eye out. It could be FullMetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Sword Art Online, Eureka 7, or Fairy Tail. It's a toss up between them all, but I will write one at a time to keep myself on track. Again I'm sorry for the ending and keep on reading!
