Warnings: Blood and psycho!Pride. He deserves his own warning.

Pairing: Pride!Ed/Envy

An abused dog will either cower or bite. With Pride, it was a fifty-fifty chance either way. He was usually complacent.

Usually.

But when he wasn't, the fallout could be...interesting.

Today was one of those days. Envy was cursing as Pride came at him again, his forearms coated in cool, slick blood, blurring the edges of the swirling patterns on his skin. It was easy to forget that this dog had TEETH, he was usually too busy cowering with his figurative tail between his legs. When he snapped, he drew blood.

Envy saw the blood before he felt the blow, another slash splitting the skin of his chest, revealing his core for a moment before the effects of the thing that gave him his existence repaired the damage. The spilled blood spattered across the floor, and up into Pride's face as the younger tackled Envy. The world went to stars for a moment as Envy's head collided with the floor, he could have sworn he heard something crack but he had no time to think about it because Pride was on him, savaging the skin at the junction of throat and shoulder.

Envy drew in a hiss of breath, only to have it stolen by a heated kiss that was decidedly more tooth than lip, a sharp spike of pain and fresh wave of blood in Envy's mouth let him know that his own lips had been sheared through, and he was getting decidedly sick of the whole affair.

A violent shove got Pride off of him, and the strength behind it flung the smaller homunculus into the wall with a dull thud and the snap of something breaking. Usually that sort of thing would bring Pride back to 'normal,' (as normal as he got,) but he was up and coming again after moments, eyes flashing with a manic spark.

But Envy was done playing around. With a sudden blur of movement, he had Pride back up against the wall, held up with a pale arm across the blonde's throat, suffocating the life (unlife) out of him.

Pride choked and clawed at Envy's unyielding arm, hissing foul curses with what breath he had left, nails gouging bloody paths in Envy's skin, until his struggles slowed, and finally stopped altogether. One life wasted.

Envy released Pride then, the younger collapsed like a puppet who had been cut loose from his strings, and laid prone on the cold, bloodstained floor.

"Ready to listen now, puppy?" Envy snarled, glaring at Pride with distaste in his eyes. He knelt by Pride, and pulled him up by a handful of hair. "Or do you want another round?"

Pride didn't respond, at least not verbally. The stalemate went on for a while, before Envy scoffed and released his hold. Pride fell back to the floor, and curled in on himself, shivering.

"Try again when you grow a backbone."

The dog was cowed again, for now.
