Keep Him Close

Summary: You have me, Bones. BonesxBooth

Disclaimer: I don't own anything, unfortunately.

She had felt it when he saved her. When he held her. Reassured her.

And it scared her.

She had left the hospital after he had fallen asleep, and after the nurse practically threw her out.

On her way home, the past few days' events flashed through her mind and she struggled to keep the tears from falling. She almost died. Booth almost died. Her grip tightened considerably on the steering wheel and she was glad to come to a red light.

She leaned her head back, taking deep breaths. She had to calm down enough just to get home. Her hands were shaking as the light turned green and her foot hit the gas pedal.

Somehow she made it back to her apartment in one piece. It was cleaned up, courtesy of Angela and Zach, who insisted on helping her out. Angela had even bought her a new fridge.

There was a note from the said Angela, instructing Doctor Temperance Brennan to get some rest and not to worry about anything.

Zach had a small postscript, expressing his relief that her and Booth were alive and doing well. He too told her to get some rest.

There was a message on her machine from Dr. Goodman, telling her to take the day off tomorrow. I just might, she thought as she headed for her bedroom.

She had stripped off the fancy clothing she was in, thankful to be pulling on some sweats instead.

She laid down in her bed, the blankets wrapping her in their comfort.

Her mind would not cease from its rapid thoughts.

Her cell phone rang in the distance and she snapped out of her haze to answer it.

"Brennan," she greeted rather shakily, unaware of the tears that had managed to escape her eyes.

"Bones? Are you all right?" Booth's worried voice filled her ear and she chuckled softly at her tears.

"I'm fine. Are you okay?"

"I woke up and you weren't here. I got a little worried."

"The nurse was kicking me out of your room. What was I supposed to do? Fight her?"

She heard Booth laugh on the other line, ending in a groan. "Now that you would have to wake me up to see."

She smiled and shook her head. "You need your rest," Bones said quietly. While that was true, she knew she was using it as an excuse.

"I can't. Sleep, that is."

"You had no problem falling asleep before."

"You were here."

Silence fell over the coversation, Booth's comment leaving Brennan a little stunned.

"Bones?"

"Yeah Booth?"

"Would I be crossing a line if I asked you not to see David?"

Bones couldn't help the smirk that tugged at her lips. "I believe your previous statements were implications of that."

"I just think you can do better."

"There aren't exactly hordes of men lining up at my door, Booth."

Booth sighed and mumbled something under his breath.

"What was that?"

"You have me, Bones."

She was quiet for a while, soaking in what he just told her.

"I…don't know what to say."

"You don't have to say anything," he replied quickly. "I just thought you should know." He cleared his throat. "Good night, Temperance."

Her heart fluttered when he used her real name. "Good night, Seeley. And just so you know, you have me too." She ended the call, a satisfied smile on her face.

Oh yes, he had her all right. Body, mind, and soul.
