Just To Say Hello
"Hello, Akito-san."
The goddess did not even look up. "Why are you here?"
The Dog gave her one of his famous I'm-just-too-cute-you-know-you-want-me smiles. "Just to say hello."
"Hello," Akito snorted.
"Hello!"
"Go the hell away."
Shigure pouted. "Now, Akito-san, you should know me better than that by now."
Sighing, Akito asked, "Are you trying to get me to sleep with you again?"
"No. Why would I want to do that?"
"That's hurtful, Shigure; it really is."
"You're being sarcastic now. That's healthy by your standards!"
"Well, I'm all about health."
"Oh, now you're just lying."
"I thought I was being sarcastic."
"Not any more, apparently."
"Ah. You're just here to agitate me, then."
"If you want."
"I don't."
"Don't what?"
"Want."
"Want what?"
"I don't know. You brought it up."
"Well I don't know. Maybe you should pay more attention."
"Maybe you should pay more attention."
"Why?"
"Because I said so."
"…What?"
A pause. "Stop being an idiot. I'm too tired to deal with you."
"Then go to bed."
"I see where this is going. I won't sleep with you."
"Weren't you the one just getting angry with me for not wanting to sleep with you?"
"I was angry with you for insulting me."
"I insulted you?"
"Quite."
"And how does that make you feel?"
"…Insulted…"
"And?"
"And what?"
"I don't know. Why don't you tell me."
"You asked first."
"But you asked second."
"So?"
"So first is the worst, second is the best, and third is the one with the treasure chest."
"But nobody asked third."
"Nobody asked fourth, either."
"Nobody cares about fourth. Fourth is worthless."
"Now, Akito-san, that's not very nice."
"Life isn't nice. Deal with it."
"I think life is a bowl of Cheerios."
"Life is a piece of shit."
"Life is a magazine."
"Life is a board game."
"Life is a cereal. Like Chee—"
"Don't finish that. What do you know about life, anyway?"
"I know I live for you, Akito-san."
"I don't believe you."
"Eh? Why not?"
"You make my life miserable."
"Well, I try."
"I'm sure you do."
"Why are you tired?"
"Are you trying to change the subject?"
"What subject?"
"Good point."
Awkwardly, Akito gazed at the Dog from top to bottom. After their random conversation, all she could think was, Wow, he sure looks hot today.
Shigure smiled sweetly and sat beside her, putting an arm around her and pulling her near to him.
"Shigure…"
"Hm?"
"Why are you here?"
"Just to say hello." He gave her a short, soft kiss on the lips. Akito would have pulled away, but the thought of being in the arms of someone who cared enough about her to just stop by to say hello, made her want nothing more than to enjoy the moment.
