Only fools have fun.

The bridge vibrated with the sound of Akito Tenkawa and Yurika Misumaru doing what they did best – being incredibly loud for little to no discernable reason. Ruri's eyes had already glazed over into her 'why do I have to deal with these idiot grown-ups' expression and most of the other bridge staff had earphones in and were listening to the shipboard soft rock radio station.

Megumi looked up from her game of Pong, as communications officer she did like to have an idea of where all the primary crew members were and particularly kept tabs on the bridge staff. Then her keen blue eyes softened into their usual sweet expression and she resumed her game. It was only Aoi-san.

Gods damn' it! Couldn't a man get any peace and quiet on this cursed battleship? Akito's voice rose even higher in pitch and volume as he understandably objected to Yurika's loud declaiming of their pure and secret love on the bridge in front of well over a dozen bored and irritated people.

Minato looked up and her sensuous lips twisted into a smile. Not only was the second in command clearly hung over, but he was so obviously trying to keep something inside him. Today was the day he was going to declare his love for the captain! She looked like the cat who'd got the cream. If he did declare today then she'd win the bridge betting pool and she already had her eyes on the cutest pair of red slingbacks ever.

The head-ache was almost intolerable and the noise was making both it and the incredible nausea roiling his guts worse. Jun knew he was a fool, for loving an oblivious angel and for drowning his sorrows in liquor last night instead of his usual ramen. He'd passed out barely three hours previously listening to the blues and his self-administered therapy hadn't worked.

The rage built until he was furious, ready to stride over and tell the pair exactly what he thought of them.

Ruri turned her head as the pulse started throbbing at Jun's temple and watched the green-tinged officer glare at the latest sets of reports he had to review. This could just be the catalyst to get him determined enough to propose. She smiled slyly and a red-marked emergency report flashed up in front of him. He shot to his feet.

'THAT DOES IT! YURIKA! I…' He got no further as the girl blithely ignored him and Akito took the opportunity afforded by his standing to hide behind the shorter man. Ruri blinked as the pulse sped, Jun twitched spasmodically and passed out.

'You owe me 5000 yen, Minato-san.' She remarked and then returned her attention to ignoring the still continuing argument between the oblivious lovers.
