The commander of the Eternal breathed a sigh of relief. It was finally over. He stood up and headed for the Archangel for the celebrations.
His thoughts went back to the man standing behind Murrue Ramius when she asked him to come over, the man who looked exactly like Mwu La Flaga, though with longer hair and a couple of scars.
Andrew chuckled to himself. So the Hawk of Endymion had more in common with the Desert Tiger than he first thought. For he too, cheated death.
This was not the first time Andy saw the revived Mwu. He remembered seeing him when he discussed rendezvous of the Eternal with the Archangel with Murrue. His first reaction was surprise, to see him alive and well. But when he congratulated Murrue about it, she seemed to be sad, mumbling something about his memories.
At the time, Andy wondered why she wanted to stay with him even though he brought her such pain. But he supposed that he wasn't all that surprised, because if Aisha were to come back…
Aisha…His dear Aisha. He knew she'd never return, after giving her life to protect his.
Ironic how similar their situations were, his and Murrue's. And perhaps it was this similarity that brought them together, bound by a unique understanding of loss. They had lived in the same household for the past two years. Despite that, they were still only friends. But perhaps, in a corner of his mind, Andrew Waltfeld had come to like Murrue as more than just a friend. However, he didn't dare to allow himself to go into that corner, and didn't dare to hope that she would feel that way about him.
They were still formal with each other. He called her Captain Ramius, and she referred to him as Captain Waltfeld. It was a mutual wall put up by both, and neither dared to take it down. For neither had dared to cross that unsaid line into what was forbidden. She had her Mwu, and he had his Aisha, and that was that.
And now, her Mwu came back for her, leaving him all alone.
Andy sighed as he entered the bridge of the Archangel. Oh well, that's life.
"Captain Waltfeld!" her voice made him look up.
"Oh, Captain Ramius." he greeted her back, "Boy, I'm glad that this is over!" he said with a smile. "Congratulations on doing a great job."
"Thanks…" The female captain looked up at the man standing next to her and blushed as he smiled at her softly.
The expression on her face was one of pure delight. And no matter what Andrew told himself, how much he tried to deny it, he was somewhat sad to admit that he wasn't the cause of her joy, and that her smile was not for him. For only Mwu La Flaga could make her smile like that.
"I guess you'll be moving out then." His sudden question made her look back at the Desert Tiger.
"Eh? Um," she looked away, slightly embarrassed and not sure how to answer.
The Desert Tiger chuckled slightly. He extended a hand to the man beside her.
"I'd tell you to take good care of her, but I already know you would."
FIN
AN: Even though I love the Mwurrue pairing (obsessed :D), I think Murrue and Andy would make a fun couple. Their situations are pretty similar, and they -have- been living together for 2 years... I thought Andy would be a more prominent character in Destiny, with more development of his relationship with Murrue, with after all, he is seen with her in the first OP and ending... but he just kinda disappeared after getting to the Eternal (I was disappointed...). I really like that guy, his character is a lot like Mwu :)
