The First Time

Summary: They didn't know this would happen. LexAmber.

A.N.: Put this (into the series) wherever you think appropriate. I am the Queen of very short stories. Plus, my first 'The Tribe' story.

The first time Lex went into Amber's room it was right after Mouse left with Salene. He didn't miss the kid, he was Lex after all; he just hoped that they were safe. It was comfort for both of them, lying in bed, arms wrapped around each other. Neither spoke of it the next day, but when Amber took Lex's hand at the end of the day, he knew where he wanted to be.

The first time they spoke of what was happening it was when they'd left the city to escape Mega's bomb. Everyone had taken refuge on an island, half way out to sea. Jay had gone to make sure the kids were all right, so Lex knew she'd be alone for a while. They sat around a camp-fire. He took her hand when Amber when to justify her actions and whispered, "It's okay. We won't do it anymore," whilst rubbing his thumb over the back of her hand. He thought her smile only looked a little sad.

The first time they'd slept together Amber had broken up with Jay, claiming that it wasn't working. Lex knew better. Which is why, as word got around the tribe, he walked into her room at the mall, and settled himself under her quilt. He brushed the tears from her cheeks and leant down, pressed his lips against hers. She replied in earnest.

The first time they acknowledged the fact that they were going out they were on a hike to find her previous tribe, to tell them some good news, that peace and harmony was being restored in the city. Lex told Amber that he wanted everyone to know about them, and she'd agreed, sealing the deal with a kiss.

The first time they kissed in front of everyone Jay completely lost it. "This is why you left me!" escaped from his mouth and he stormed out of the mall in anger when Amber dropped her head in shame. Lex put his arm around her whilst everyone stared after Jay. She looked up at him sadly before crossing her arms and walking away.

The firs time they confessed their love for each other Lex had lit Amber a candlelight dinner on the roof of the mall to make up for Jay's outburst the previous week. As they were standing at the edge of the roof, watching the city come alive, Lex took her hand and said the words. Amber sniffed and fell into his arms, whispering, "I love you too," over and over again.

The first time either were happy they were standing on a roof.
