Chapter one: Pink is not my Thing.
'Sam? Sam? Samantha?' Jake Ely Yelled trying to get her attention, she silenced him with a glare, although it wasn't very affective since she was soaking wet. They had gone out to the playa and Sam had been bucked into the water by Ace, her horse. Jake had found it very amusing and was now getting the cold shoulder from Sam. They road into River bend and Sam climbed down, ground tying ace and un tacking him. after Jake and her both set there horses free into there pen they headed for the house.
'Come on Brat, stop ignoring me' Jake demanded as they walked into the porch. She just glared at him and walked into her house. He sighed and followed.
'Ma'am' he said tipping his hat to Gram.
'Jake, sit down, my sugar cookies should be ready soon' Gram said smiling at him. Wyatt sat at the table as well, regarding his soaked daughter with one raised eyebrow.
'What happened?' he asked simply
'Ace bucked me into the pond' Sam said glaring a Jake who was trying to stifle his laughed. Wyatt let out a small chuckle and Gram glared at him
'Sam go get changed or you'll catch a cold' gram said pushing her lightly up the stairs. She nodded and ran to her room.
After she got changed into fresh warm jeans and a simple T-Shirt she walked back down and grabbed a cookie from where they where cooling.
'Sam there's a letter for you' Gram said passing her a bright pink envelope. Jake regarded it with disgust, he hated pink. Sam's eyes lit up though when she spotted the stationary. She quickly ripped it open and read the contents; she let out a squeal in a very Un-Sam like way. Wyatt raised his eyebrows over his coffee cup as he watched his Daughter Squeal like a piglet.
'Yes!' she called out happily and hugged gram again in a very Un-Sam like way.
'What is it dear?' Gram asked confused
'My friends from San Francisco are coming here for a week field trip. Dad can they stay in the Bunkhouse; they don't have anywhere to stay. Everyone is staying at the solcums. Please dad' she begged surprisingly.
'Will you be staying out there with them?' he asked with a sigh, she nodded happily
'How many are coming?' Wyatt asked shaking his head in frustration
'Umm let me count…… Julia, Nick, Danielle and Jocelyn' she said marking them off with her fingers. Wyatt let out a sigh and nodded once. Sam hugged him quickly and ran upstairs to do who knows what. Jake watched with a raised eyebrow
'That was….. Odd' he muttered, Gram laughed and Jake raised her eyebrow at her
'its nothing dear, are you staying for dinner?' she asked diverting his attention
'No Ma'am, I should be getting back home' Jake said tipping his hat to Wyatt and leaving. Wyatt raised his eyebrow at Gram silently asking her why she was laughing before
'Did you notice Sam looked at Jake when she said the boys name? Almost like she was asking his permission?' she asked her son slowly
'Yes, but Sam always looks at Jake…..'He said but trailing off as he realized what gram was getting at, Gram laughed again at the sudden knowing look on her sons face.
