After assassinating the Duke, I had fully expected to settle down again, or, at most, strike out after a new career. What I did not expect was to run into someone as small and green as I was. Nonetheless, that is what happened. Literally.

"Watch it!" Green Fairy snapped. For a girl three inches high, she was scary. I backed away to a suitable distance before making my apologies.

"I am so sorry, Mademoiselle," I announced, bowing as low as I could. The fairy's demeanor changed at once.

"Oh, a real gentleman, aye?" she asked, raising an eyebrow. "That makes you the first I've encountered in a while."

"Why don't you come with me and talk about it?" I offered, being the sensitive and caring frog I was. Green Fairy accepted. Soon we were safely tucked away in a niche behind the inn's walls, where Green Fairy apparently lived.

"So I started out as Tinkerbell, Peter Pan's fairy," she started, once we had gotten settled. "But I got sick of him eyein' that Wendy girl all the time and let Hook poison him. Well, as you can imagine, that didn't go down too well, and I got fired pretty fast. Since then I've been doin' odd jobs, ya know, like a Disney extra, or helpin' with special effects. Right now I'm the Absinthe Fairy for this bunch of losers. Only time I get to come out is when they drink too much." I nodded sympathetically.

We spent all night talking. When it was nigh on morning, and I finally realized how late it was, I decided it was time to go home.

The fairy seemed reluctant to let me go. "Why don't you stay here?" she offered. "Be nearer to the action. You can stay with me." After much persuading, I accepted. Days went by, and I started to live with the fairy full-time. We got closer to each other, and started dating. I guess my budding career as an Opera Ghost would just have to wait. Maybe, when I did get around to it, Tinkerbell could be my assistant…
