Just This Once…..

The sun is dawning on a new day. With each minute passing, the snow begins to disappear beneath my feet, just to reveal the soft green grass. It is finally the first day of Spring of my fourth year being in this town. The celebration is about to begin just to bring in good blessings for the New Year. All my friends are elated, joyful at the occasion. Not realizing I have to make my final decision before it is too late.

I open up my rucksack, staring at the pretty blue feather. Reminding me that I have to choose who I wish to marry now before my rival gains their heart. Ann, Elli, Karen, Mary, or Popuri…I can't decide. All of their hearts beat a deep red for me, they love me and I love all of them.

I slowly trudge to the Inn; maybe a drink will help calm my nerves. The wine smoothly goes down my throat, taking away my worries if only for a moment. Dang it! I don't want any of them to marry; can't it just go on like this forever? Do I, Jack, have to finally settle down? Can't I be a playboy forever?

If I don't do it now, my many rivals will sweep them of their feet. Why is it that I can only have one? I know I'm selfish, but I want them all! Please, just this once….let me be a polygamist NATSUME!
