She could feel a difference in her person, in him, in her life. Everything had changed in an instant, somehow things had become sharper in a dull world. A new shade of light had been cast on her perspective of Sesshomaru substantially and on her life as Lady of the Western Lands. She sat on that old concrete bench that had started to weather from all the time she spent in the gardens. Silver and black streaks moved with energy around her as one, the smaller one, came bounding in her direction. His big blue eyes settled in hers as he smiled a toothy smile, arms stretched wide open seeking a warm embrace. She hugged him tight and brushed the hair from the moon on his forehead.
"Are you having fun, sweet boy?" She whispered. He smiled, about to form some sort of sentence, but he seemed distracted. She turned to look but saw no one, "Rin," she called out, "Come here." She wrapped her arms around the two children instinctively as she paid close attention to her son's actions. Within a few short seconds he began to emit a small growl and started to climb over her shoulder, "Baby, no." She said trying to keep him from going after whatever was bothering him. Blue lightening crackled in his claws that were coming out.
"What's all this I hear?" A familiar voice asked coming from the gates of the garden.
"Da da!" He yelled out and in a flash had bounded from her arms and came crashing into his chest. He chuckled as he carried his son back to his newly found life.
"Just like his father!" Kagome laughed, "Back so soon?"
"You know I hate to be away." He whispered. Rin ran up and sat beside Kagome on the bench as Sesshomaru sat cross legged on the ground holding his son.
"Did you miss me Kazuo?" He asked their son. His son flashed a grin with his sharp fangs and giggled as Sesshomaru tickled him.
"You know Rin and I missed you as well," Kagome said wrapping her arm around Rin's shoulders. He stood up and placed Kazuo on her lap and kissed Rin's forehead.
"Sunset, its bed time." He said. He walked with his arm around Kagome's waist and Rin's shoulders into the palace, where they put their children to bed.
"You know I never thought this is how my life would end up," She cooed from the balcony of their room.
"Nor did I, but like I recall telling you, it wouldn't be nearly as bad as you thought." He said as he joined her on the balcony, "But, you're contract will always stand if you ever feel the need to leave." He stated hesitantly as he wrapped his arms around her waist.
"I wouldn't dream of leaving you." She whispered as they closed the gap to share a kiss.
