The Windows
CedricXViktor Songfic (MULTIPLE SONGS)
MILD SLASH

Heaven is not a bad place, obviously. But it is empty, and one gets tired of hearing Shakespeare's new play idea, Merlin's new spell, Leonardo DaVinci's new muggle invention. And besides, everywhere feels empty without Viktor. I spend most of my time at the windows; angels don't care to play rough on a broomstick, and besides, they have wings to fly with anyway. Soon I will too, I can feel the bones on my back stretching under my skin. It itches.

Would you know my name
if I saw you in heaven?
Would it be the same
if I saw you in heaven?
I must be strong and carry on
'Cause I know I don't belong here in heaven

The windows are places where you can watch earth, they look like a muggle TV stuck in the middle of a black expanse. Viktor will be playing an important game in a couple of minutes, so I've got to watch. I can see Ivan Levski, a teammate and friend of Viktor's going over and patting him on the back. I like Ivan, sometimes I think he's the only think that's keeping Viktor sane right now. Though I suppose I would like him less if he and Viktor started dating.

And tears like crystal
If not you, then who
Could finish signing this song
Wind hitting against the window

Sometimes Viktor will stare straight at the window, as if he can see me, and his dark piercing gaze will send me into fits of tears. The others say the pain lessens the longer you remain in heaven, that it softens and the windows become blurry. This scares me, as if it makes Viktor unreal, just a boy in a tragic fairytale. And as Viktor becomes removed, my death will become a reality.

You and me have seen everything to see
From Bangkok to Calgary
And the soles of your shoes are all worn down
The time for sleep is now
It's nothing to cry about
Cause we'll hold each other soon
In the blackest of rooms

Through the window, I can see Viktor, Ivan and the rest of their team mount their broom and soar into the blue. The snitch hovers next to the window, and my hand instinctively reaches for it, but as fast as it came, it's gone. I hear a distant yell in a foreign language. Viktor has almost got the snitch, but all of a sudden there is a bludger in his way. I begin
to swear and curse as I watch the bludger smash into what appears to be Viktor's neck.

The window blurs, and I blink until I can see again. Viktor falls to the ground with a thud, and a medic rushes toward him. My vision blurs again, but this time because I'm crying. The medic looks up and simply shakes his head. The grass is scarlet around Viktor, and Ivan won't let go of him when two more medics come to carry him out. I have heard Harry Potter once did the same with my body. Tears are streaming down my face and neck, soaking into my white robes. I hear a footstep behind me, and feel a hand on my shoulder. I turn and fall into Viktor arms, and this time I will never let him go.

On a hopeless road
signs aren't clear to me
follow it and find
that the burning will turn to light and nobody can explain
and the enlightened will not tell
why hearts burn
why pain will follow
when music plays
when it's not on sale
And why always hurts
when destiny has her way
