Authors Note/ This is the first time I have ever done a romance fic. :3 Be gentle...
Summary:Syrus Truesdale was a normal boy, in the sense of having light blue hair and silver eyes kind of normal, but still just like any other kid none the less. He didn't know a simple confession could change his life, that a small truth could flip his life upside down.
Syrus sighed, one had clutching loosely at his hair as he scanned a heavy looking text book. "Who know dueling could be so complicated?" he murmured, looking at the brightly burning candle at the edge of the desk.
It was past lights out, late on a Sunday night and he had left studying for the mid-term exam until the night before. He wouldn't normally, but Jaden had insisted on practice dueling instead. He said it would help Syrus out more then a moldy old text book ever would. Out of ten duels, he had won seven of them. He was almost certain he could scrape through the dueling portionof the exam...but the actual test? He wasn't so sure.
He glanced at his bunk, Jaden was at the bottom, snoring lightly, a textbook open on his chest. How could he be so carefree? Syrus stood and stretched, moving forward and removing the book from Jaden's sleeping form.
Jaden opened one eye and bleary said, "Wassayadoing?"
Syrus couldn't help but a smile a little, "Getting the textbook before it suffocated you." He said, holding it up.
"Oh...okay." Jaden said, sitting up and yawning, "Why are you up so late, Sy?"
"Studying..." Syrus said simply, flashing a small sad smile, "I'm gunna flunk this, Jaden..."
"Nah! I'll help you if you want!" Jaden offered.
Syrus's smile brightened, "That'd be great! Any help is good help."
Jaden chuckled, "Right. Where are you anyway?" He threw himself down into a seat by the desk.
Syrus sat back down where he was, "Continuous traps." He said, reaching for the book. Jaden had done the same, at that precise moment. His hand landed on Syrus's.
Syrus pulled his hand back, "Sorry Jay." He muttered, glad it was so dark as he was blushing furiously.
"It's fine Sy." Jaden said, flipping to the next page as Syrus made no move to.
Syrus gnawed on his bottom lip, it seemed like the atmosphere had not changed at all. Syrus knew Jaden did not share his feelings for him...he knew it was to good to be true to even think that. He blushed again at the sound of his nickname...to him they sounded like pet names.
"Sy! Are you listening?"
Syrus turned to Jaden, "Wha-?"
"I just read you the whole page Sy! You gotta pay attention!"
"Sorry Jaden..." Syrus whispered, looking hard at the book, face burning.
"Sy, you alright?"
"Oh, I'm great. Perfectly fine." Syrus piped, his voice squeaking and high.
"Maybe you should get to bed. It's 1:30." Jaden said softly.
"I...can't...okay." Syrus stood, "Jaden...I...um..."
"What's up?"
"Never mind...it's nothing Jay." He was half way in bed and about to pull the covers up over his head when finally he could contain himself no longer, "Jaden! I think I love you!"
Jaden who was now holding the candel dropped it, "What?" He stomped out the flame quickly.
"I...I love you." He repeated, "I really do."
Jaden climbed to Syrus's bunk catiously, sitting at the edge, "Really? Do you...?"
Syrus gulped and nodded, "Yes...I really do."
Jaden smirked slightly, "What'll Chumley here, think?"
Syrus giggled nervously, "Everything'll change now won't it?"
"Nah, Sy. We'll still be best friends. G'night." Jaden leaned foward and kissed him softly, "See you in the morning."
Syrus was blushing, he could hardly mumble out, "Uhm...gya...I mean...G'night...Jay."
