This is really, really short. I was feeling sentimental this morning, and this popped into my head out of nowhere. Hope you like it!
Go, Disclaimer Dude!
Disclaimer Dude: Miriku owns only this oneshot.
Oh, yeah--about that. If you guys want, Imight continue this. You know, do a few other characters' reflections on innocence.
Bah, enough with my rantings--read and review, please!
Colors of Innocence
Yami POV
Some say that innocence is pure white. White as snow; white as a white rose.
I, my friend, disagree.
I have seen much in my time. Things that would make you laugh; things that would make your blood run cold in your veins.
And not once have I seen white as the sole color of innocence.
You must understand, as I have understood for millennia, that innocence comes in many colors. It is not only the white of the clouds that float on high. It is the yellow of a summer sun; it is the red of a robin's feathers. It is the green of the grass in the park. It is the blue of the sky above. It is the pitch black of a neighbor's cat. It is the earthy brown of bark. It is the clear amber of tree sap.
And, most importantly to me…it is the deep, sparkling amethyst of my hikari's eyes.
Through all the horrors he's seen—despite everything he's been through—he still retains that simple, child-like innocence of before.
And…I envy him.
I lost my innocence long ago. To know—to remember—what it feels like to be untainted…
But he is not completely untouched. I am the one that first tainted that pure innocence of his, with my dark ways…
I know I have been redeemed. He showed me the way to forgiveness; to redemption.
But my taint is still upon his soul.
And yet, his innocence still shines through—forgiveness, compassion, and love, all within those sparkling amethyst eyes.
OooO
What do you think? I know it's short, but it's all I can think of. Don't kill me...!
