Airwolf is somebody else's, probably Universal's or Bellisarius', and I freely admit that whoever's it is, I'm borrowing their show and they retain all rights, etc.
This is the fourth instalment so if you have read the other three, (Single Parent Hawke, The Jade Wolf and The Truth About Caitlin), you can skip straight to the story in the next chapter…or read this brief recap of the story so far.
Stringfellow Hawke has said farewell to Le, the boy he incorrectly believed to be his nephew. Le is now living in Seattle with his newly found mother, Ana and her late husband's family. Caitlin also starts to question whether she has the life she wants and she admits to Hawke that she's thinking about leaving. Hawke desperately wants her to stay but is fearful that admitting his feelings may lead to yet another tragedy in his life. Before anything more can be said, the Airwolf team are given another mission. In the final battle with the bad guys, Airwolf is hit by an unusual explosion which disrupts her systems and she almost crashes.
The next day, Hawke's new appreciation for his life and for his friends is interrupted by an urgent mission to pick up an unspecified package from the NSA in Maine. Dominic Santini claims his back is injured and sends Hawke and Caitlin on their own, secretly hoping that the time the couple will have alone together will put an end to Caitlin's doubts about staying. On arriving in Maine, they discover their mission is to return a former traitor, James Byrne, to the FIRM with Russian helicopter designs he has stolen. Byrne was part of the original Airwolf test flight team along with Hawke who is not happy at the assignment. When Byrne and his wife fail to show up on time, they go with the NSA agent and find the car transporting them has been involved in a crash. But it is a trap; Byrne's wife is a KGB agent and she betrays her husband for the opportunity to try and steal Airwolf. Hawke, Caitlin and Byrne escape but Airwolf is injured and they have to set down at an abandoned airfield. They repair Airwolf and Hawke finally asks Caitlin to stay in LA much to her delight.
Unfortunately, soon after, Caitlin is shot saving Hawke and almost dies. Hawke remains at her bedside steadfastly as she starts to recover and deals with her shocked family. As Caitlin cannot remember the events of mission or their conversation, Hawke rethinks asking her to stay in LA. His mind is finally made up after her mother pleads with him to do what is necessary to keep Caitlin safe. Hawke admits to Caitlin that he thinks she should go back to Texas with her parents. She realises what he is doing and tries to talk him out of it but to no avail. They say an emotional goodbye and Hawke walks away from her wondering if he has made the right decision…
And now the next instalment: Old Friends, New Enemies.
