Roronoa Zoro was not a stupid man. He was hard headed, inhumanly strong, and lacked a sense of direction, but he was certainly not stupid. So when he found himself inside the naval base, trying to find where Nami was being held captive, he did what anyone would do for easy access to anywhere in the building; try to blend in. The first Navy enlisted man who passed his way found himself knocked out and undressed before he knew that anything had happened at all.

The shirt was a little tight, but the slacks and boots were fine. Zoro carefully tied all his swords at his hip and tried his best to appear as if he knew where he was going. He came to a door. He opened it. Brooms.

He came to another door. He opened it. Bunks.

He came to another door. He opened it. Toilets.

Swearing under his breath, Zoro did his best to remain calm. Luffy had sent him to retrieve Nami from the Marines, and he was sure as hell going to do it, even if he had to check every room in the whole damn base. The crew, and Nami especially, were counting on him.

He reached for the next door handle, but before he could, a cold voice stopped him short.

"What are you doing, Private?"

Zoro winced and turned around slowly. He knew that voice. And yes, as he turned around, his desire to do so dropped. The glasses, the jacket…and the sword.

"You!" Sergeant Major Tashigi was utterly surprised, and fumbled for a moment at the hilt before she managed to draw her sword.

Her moment of fumbling was all Zoro needed. His sword parried hers with a quick clink of metal on metal. He was standing so close that she could feel his breath on her face.

"Let me go. I have nakama to rescue."

"Never." Tashigi hissed, trembling with rage. She wanted to push him back, away from her, slice him from head to toe, watch him bleed in a puddle on the floor…

But she made the mistake of looking up at him. They were totally and completely still for a long moment, then their lips met, softly, slowly. Neither was sure who had initiated what, but it was far from important. Zoro's sword dropped from it's parry and they faced each other fully, her chest on his too-tight shirt, his free hand at her hair, her face…Zoro removed her glasses so that they could deepen the kiss, and then they slowly broke apart.

Zoro stepped back, a sober expression on his face, her glasses still in his hands.

There was the clacking of boots and three Marines appeared at Zoro's shoulder.

"Why aren't you at your post, soldier?" One demanded.

Zoro looked slowly from the Marine to Tashigi, then down at the glasses in his hand.

"I was returning the Sergeant Major's glasses to her." He said, offering them to her.

"Is this so ma'am?"

Tashigi took the glasses, and then met Zoro's eyes.

"Yes." She said softly. "He will report back to the third floor, room 315 immediately."

"Yes Ma'am." Barked the highest ranking of the three Marines.

Zoro nodded slowly, and then saluted to the best of his unpracticed ability. The other Marines let him pass, and he took off at a run to the third floor room 315, where Nami was impatiently waiting for him to rescue her.
