Back From the Future

Genre: Drama/General
Summary: A little 2010 plotbunny I couldn't get rid of. What if the note wasn't the only thing that made it through the Gate?

"Incoming traveler."

"Who is it?"

"It's...SG-1, sir."

General Hammond, with SG-1 in tow, curiously walked over to where Sgt. Harriman sat. "Hello," Jack said in surprise.

"How can that be?" Janet wondered, looking at the others in confusion.

"Let's find out," Hammond decided. "Defense teams, stand by. Open the iris."

The massive metal shield slid open, letting the shimmering blue event horizon reflect on the walls and the soldiers at the base of the Gate. For a long moment, nothing happened.

A form suddenly hurtled through the Gate, tumbling and finally slamming to a stop midway down the ramp, face-down. It lay still, breathing with difficulty, and they saw that it had spots of blood on its back.

Jack looked at Hammond for permission to go down and investigate, and the general nodded. SG-1 quickly made their way down to the Gateroom and the sprawled form.

Jack and Daniel knelt by the side of the figure, now able to see that it was clearly male, about six feet in height. Working together, they carefully turned the figure over.

"Oh my God," Jack breathed as they finally saw the man's face.

"Holy shit," Daniel agreed.

The glasses were different, and so was the haircut, but there was no mistaking that the man on the ramp was Doctor Daniel Jackson. He groggily opened his eyes, which widened upon seeing…himself. "Oh," he said. "Must've made it back."

"From where?" Jack asked.

Other Daniel smiled weakly. "The future. What date is it?"

"August of 2000," Daniel responded, still weirded out at the thought that he was talking to himself.

Future Daniel closed his eyes and sighed in relief. "Thank God. You haven't gone to the Aschen homeworld yet." He opened his eyes again. "Lock out P4C-970 from the dialing computer. Trust me."

Jack looked over his shoulder at Hammond, who had followed them down when it was clear their visitor posed no threat. "It's your call, sir."

Hammond nodded. "Lock out P4C-970," he ordered Harriman.

Future Daniel looked surprised and tried to sit up, stopped only by Jack and Daniel holding him down. "General Hammond's alive?" Then he shook his head. "Well, duh. Sorry, guess I'm still a little out of it."

Janet pushed her way through the crowd of baffled guards to kneel at the other Daniel's side. "How badly are you hurt?" she asked, putting aside the absolutely bizarre sight of Daniel literally beside himself.

"Ah, you know me," he tried to joke. "Just some scratches." Janet gave him a disapproving look, and he relented. "I took a few hits from an automated defense system at the Space Terminal. Energy weapons, kind of, but they make deep puncture wounds instead." All traces of humor were gone from his face. "Teal'c got hit in the back over and over, Jack took a few shots to the head…Janet and Sam were already far away when we struck. I was the last one left."

"How far ahead are you from?" Sam asked in amazement.

"September of 2010," Future Daniel answered, wincing as Janet prodded at one of his wounds.

"The questioning will have to wait," Janet ordered, looking sternly at SG-1. "He needs medical attention right away." Before they could object, she called for a gurney and transferred her new patient to the infirmary.

That's all I have, really. I just wanted to get this idea out of my head, so if anyone wants to continue, be my guest.
