Starfire sat on the sofa in the common room of Titans Tower. The Titans had come home after a long and gory battle with Slade. She had almost been killed.
Suddenly, the door opened and Robin stepped in. His hair was slightly messed up from the fight. His cape was torn. He saw Starfire and smiled weakly. She tried to smile back, but was too traumatized from the battle and her near death experience. Robin made his way toward the young Tamaranian.
"What's wrong?" he asked, concerned.
"Nothing is wrong, Robin. I am just fine," lied Starfire. Robin raised his eyebrows. Starfire was a terrible liar.
"I guess I am just… remembering today's events and…" started Starfire.
"I guess we're all a little shaken up," he said, trying to comfort her. Starfire tried smiling again, but could not.
"Something else is bothering me as well," started Starfire. "When we were fighting, your mask fell off. You quickly put it back on and attacked Slade. What could be behind that mask that would make you so angry?" asked Starfire. Robin looked away.
"I don't know why I always wear this stupid mask. I guess I'd be happier if my eyes were always hidden," said Robin quietly. Starfire studied his face.
"But if you want to, you can…"
Starfire's eyes widened.
"Are you quite sure?" she asked. Robin hesitated, than nodded. He reached up to his mask, ready to remove it. But his hand suddenly stopped. He sighed. Starfire reached up to his face. Her slender fingers touched the corner of his mask. Robin shivered, but didn't object. Starfire took the other corner of his mask and pulled gently.
Starfire suddenly realized that his mask was in her hands. She looked up. Robin was staring at his feet, but his eyes were clearly visible. Robin's eyes were two pools of blue, flecked with green, brown, and, black. He reluctantly looked at Starfire. Their eyes met.
"Robin, why do you cover your eyes, when they are so wonderful?" asked Starfire.
"I don't know, Star, I don't know…" Starfire took Robin's hand in her own. Their faces were very close now. Their eyes closed slowly. Robin's hand made its way out of Starfire's hand and touched her cheek. He leaned forward. Starfire felt herself leaning forward too. A second later, the two teen's lips met. Robin cupped Starfire's cheek in his hand as he deepened the kiss. Starfire's lips brushed against Robin's. She didn't even notice the mask fall from her hands.
