Grievous Lives On!
Chapter 9: Forgotten Past

I don't own anything, except for original characters.

This chapter involves the Kalee species. Since not much has been written or revealed about the species, I'm making stuff up. So if my view doesn't agree with your view of them, I'm sorry. Thank you all for reviews and support.

Plo Koon had recuperated quite quickly, and he was fixing his slightly damaged lightsaber. Suddenly, a Jedi entered the small house. Plo stood up fast with lightsaber in hand, only to recognize Mace Windu.

"Master Windu! I thought you were dead!" Plo exclaimed as he laid his saber back on the repair bench behind him.

"Well, if we don't act quickly, we'll all die," Mace spoke.

"What do you mean? Is Vader or Sideous approaching?" Plo demanded.

"Worse. I have been able to sense Grievous not too far off from here, on Kalee. I believe he plans to do something terrible." Mace explained.

"Then we should do something!" Plo grabbed his Jedi robe and lightsaber and prepared to leave. Obi-wan entered into the room from a kitchen like area.

"Master Windu?" Obi-wan asked, much like Plo before him.

"Come with me to Kalee. You know what a threat Grievous is, and so you must know we need to stop him as soon as possible," Mace said.

"What does Qui-gon have to say about this?" Obi-wan asked.

"Qui-gon is confused. He can't see the problems of now. Not as a ghost. It's up to us mortals to fix what's going on," Mace replied.

"I will accompany you, but we must be careful not to attract the attention of Vader or the Emperor," Obi-wan obliged. All three Jedi set off towards Kalee.

Grievous' ship passed through the atmosphere of Kalee and into a blue sky over acres of jungle land. The green treetops that covered the planet surface shimmered with an exotic beauty. As the ship made its way over the ever-expanding forest, it finally reached a village of sorts. Its buildings were made of strong straw like material and showed great precision in their design. The ship landed softly on a clearing, drawing the eyes of many Kalee villagers. Only Kalee resided in this village, except for the occasional slave, but the slaves were of a less developed race, and were treated with respect.

Grievous sighed as memories of long ago returned to him.

Grievous disembarked along with his guards and Jorgon. Several Kalee warriors approached with blasters held at their sides. Large swords hung strapped to their backs by a brown leathery belt draped across their chest. No human could ever wield these swords; the strength required to wield such a weapon was roughly equal to that of a wookie, or maybe even stronger. They wore beautiful but terrifying masks and long battle cloaks made to protect from all sorts of conditions.

"Why do you enter uninvited, stranger?" a warrior demanded in a rough basic. Grievous took great pain in being unrecognizable.

"I am no stranger. I am the one known as Grievous," Grievous answered. "Or maybe you know me as Greeviousan," Grievous spoke in Kalee. The Kalee warrior's eyes grew huge in recognition.

"How? You were killed! Your father..."

"What about my father?" Grievous demanded.

Jorgon stood behind Grievous, all the while not understanding what exactly was going on, since he couldn't understand the Kalee language.

"You have been gone for so long. I must take you to our new leader," the Kalee warrior said.

"New leader? But my father was in charge!" Grievous exclaimed.

"Much has changed. And you have come at a perfect time! Please follow me, and you will get your answers." He began leading Grievous and company up to the tallest hut.

As the group walked through the village, Kaleesh people stared in wonder. They had never seen such technology as Grievous and his bodyguards. Jorgon also took them aback. They were unused to humans, and they didn't particularly like them. Jorgon also stared in wonder at the aliens.

Both males and females had blue green skin, small, upturned noses perfect for catching scents, and distinctly reptilian eyes. The males stood at an impressive six-foot-six and their teeth were slightly visible when their mouths were closed, other wise, they resembled humans. They also wore no shirts and wore loose cloth pants, along with sturdy boots. The females were daintier, standing at a relatively tall height of five-foot-seven. Their teeth were not as visible as the males, and they wore a long and plain cloth dress. They tended to walk about with out shoes.

"Keep following, Jedi!" Grievous commanded of Jorgon. Jorgon shook his head of distractions and caught up with the traveling group. Finally, Grievous arrived at the huge main hut of the village.

"Stay out here!" Grievous ordered, yelling at Jorgon and his bodyguards. Grievous then entered the hut. He stopped as a strong Kalee wearing a battle mask stood up. The Kalee sized up Grievous and spoke to the warrior guide.

"Who is this?" the leader asked in Kaleesh.

"Greeviousan, sir," the warrior spoke with fear in his voice. The leader quickly straightened up.

"I had no idea. Please excuse me, Great General," the leader bowed respectfully. Grievous bowed back.

"I demand an explanation! Where is my father?" Grievous questioned sternly.

"He is dead, sir. He never quite recovered from your assumed death, and he died in battle, as an honorable Kalee should." The leader's words stung Grievous.

"How did he die?" Grievous asked, hoping to know who to aim his vengeance at.

"Clone troopers. Ever since Chancellor Palpatine became emperor, those clones have been much more brutal then before, especially without their Jedi generals leading them."

"Now I have even more reason to hate that man," Grievous replied, referring to Palpatine.

"Lord Haeron!" a Kalee soldier cried out as he rushed into the room.

"What is it?" Haeron demanded. The Kalee soldier halted.

"There are many ships coming this way, and they appear to be mercenaries," the soldier explained.

"I will meet them," Grievous spoke. "There arrival is most likely my fault." Grievous swiftly exited the building and pulled out two lightsaber hilts.

Outside, several ships landed within the Kalee town square with no regard to the town's inhabitants. Grievous stood ready to confront the unwanted strangers. A mandalorian walked out to Grievous.

"Isn't your species extinct, mandalorian? Perhaps you should make way for a stronger species!" Grievous switched on his lightsabers and fell into his fighting stance.

"I remember you Grievous. You also should be dead. And your lightsabers don't scare me," Boba Fett ignited two lightsabers of his own.

"You actually believe you can sword fight me? No wonder your species is dead!"

Grievous moved forward at an incredible speed, but Fett managed to match him, and both clashed lightsabers. Boba was strong, but Grievous' metal arms were far stronger. Grievous broke the clash, but Boba shot into the air with his jetpak before Grievous could land a hit. Fett replaced his right saber with a blaster rifle and began firing at Grievous. Grievous easily deflected the blasts, even as more bounty hunters emerged to fight.

Fett landed on top of a roof and watched as Grievous and the other mercanaries battled it out. One merc lashed out with a blade, but Grievous sabered the fool into pieces. Several bounty hunters fell from deflected blasts hitting them. Fett once again took action and fired a large missle from his jetpak. Grievous jumped high into the air and landed ontop of the building on which Boba stood.

Elsewhere, Jorgon, Ugly, and Griff were fighting bounty hunters of there own. Jorgon sliced upwards through the last merc, when suddenly, he flew back from a huge wave. Three Jedi had appeared.

"Mace Windu?" Jorgon asked.

"What are you doing here?" Mace demanded sternly. Behind him stood Obi-wan and Plo Koon.

"I-I thought you were dead," Jorgon stuttered, unwilling to admit to them the reason.

"You're here to help Grievous!" Mace picked Jorgon up by the collar and held him up against a wall. "Tell us where he is!"

"Just over there," Jorgon pointed. "He's changed! He wants to help the Republic!" Mace threw Jorgon onto the ground.

"Don't be so naive. If your gone when I get back, then I won't kill you," Mace warned.

"Master Windu? Don't you think this is awfully harsh?" Obi-wan questioned.

"These are dangerous times. I won't be betrayed again," Mace answered. Obi-wan scowled.

"I don't believe Yoda or Qui-gon would approve of this! You need to meditate on the Jedi code!" Obi-wan replied.

"Shut up!" Mace back handed Obi-wan. Obi-wan fell to the ground, surprised by the senior Jedi's response. "We were wiped out because of the Jedi code! If I had not hesitated against Sideous, he would be dead now!"

"You know that's not true," Obi-wan argued. "Sideous was in control of the fight the whole time. I failed Anakin, and that is why the Jedi were destroyed. But I promise to make it right, not go on some rampage for revenge!"

"Don't talk down to me!" Mace threw Obi-wan with the Force. Obi-wan fell down into the jungle depths below.

"You should not treat your fellow Jedi in such a way," Plo told Mace.

"He was unwilling to do what must be done. I did not kill him, I only removed from my way," Mace defended.

"But..." Plo was about to speak, but then a huge explosion of fire engulfed the area. The three Jedi and Grievous' bodyguards braced themselves.
