Leafee: I'm sorry for the delay, it's all my fault so don't pin the blame on Hex. If anything, you should thank her for guilting me back into writing.

UHW: Holy Moly! It's been 9 years since we published the first chapter to this story...how embarrassing…-hides and points at Leafee- it's all her fault! Lol, but anyway at least it's not completely dead right? I mean the updates will probably be slow and stuff but no worries the brainstorming and plotting process is going so do expect updates!

Hope this chapter is enjoyed! Sorry for the (horribly long) delay and don't forget to review!

O-o-O-o-O-o-O-o-O Chapter 2 Oo-O-o-O-o-O-o-O

Sapphire eyes roamed the empty street, a small smirk played on his lip at the destruction they had caused in such a short time. As the screams of panicked civilians faded further away he assessed the reason they were there to begin with.

Mystique was gone, again. She hadn't left a note, just got up and left. So having nothing better to do they thought about going and doing what they were best at, causing trouble.

His eyes stared away from the empty pathway in front of him and he turned his attention to his teammates.

Blob was sitting on a half diminished car, located next to a bakery with a broken window. He happily dug into a jelly filled doughnut leaving purple stains on his cheek. Toad was hopping towards the broken window, probably getting a snack himself.

Avalanche though was paying little attention to them. He was leaning on the side of the building eyes upwards searching the sky, waiting. It wasn't too long before he heard the jet approaching and the brown haired boy smiled. His pretty Kitty had arrived.

He felt a smile curl upwards on his own face. He may not have been waiting for a pathetic x-girl, but he was very bored, so bored that the idea of a struggle with the x-geeks definitely sounded appealing.

O-o-O-o-O-o-O-o-O

Hazel eyes rolled as the tall mutant manning the controls kept fighting with the computer screen a few feet away from him.

"I don't understand why we couldn't go with you and then handle the brotherhood..."

"Chuck gave the orders and you're going to listen to them bub, you'll join us when you're done there," with those final words Wolverine vanished from the screen leaving a blank screen.

X-23 frowned and looked out a window, Weapon X had decided this as a first mission for her yet he wouldn't be there at all. What a waste of time.

The greenish brown orbs moved away from the window and looked back towards the controls. The redhead and leader boy were whispering amongst each other. A few feet away the boy covered in blue fur anxiously looked down a window as a dark skinned blond boy next to him slouched in his seat. In the seat right across from her sat a brown haired girl, her eyes were downcast as if deep in thought.

She frowned, this was her team. It was a horrible thought to think but she felt like she would be able to take them all if she wanted. Her thoughts were suddenly interrupted as the jet came to a stop.

The next few minutes all went in a blur. Things went wrong as soon as they got off the X-Jet. Leader boy went right for who she assumed was the leader. The others dispersed to go after the the other three and for a moment she stayed in place wondering where to start herself when she watched a big guy throw a car at her redheaded teammate.

This action was enough to distract leader boy, who made a run towards her and that's when the earth rumbled. Her eyes seeked out where the tremor was coming from and she spotted their leader, his palms were on the ground and his eyes were rolling back. She started running towards him but her brown haired teammate got to him first. As she tackled him they both disappeared and the the earth stopped moving.

"Damn it..." She mumbled stopping her run when she reached the area they had been seconds earlier. As she looked around to investigate she felt a foot on her back making her stumble forward but not fall. She turned around to see nothing but she felt a breeze and her senses were suddenly overwhelmed with something that smelled awfully fresh. It wasn't just behind her though, it was everywhere around her.

"Over here..."

She turned again, and again found nothing but sensing someone behind her she turned once more and froze. It was the same boy from the tv screen earlier. Silver hair, sapphire eyes and a smug smile that she felt like smacking off the arrogant face.

"You're new...and just like all the others. Slow."

He then ran circles around her, the reason for his overwhelming scent around her being obvious. She felt her body start rising as a whirlwind brought on by his running surrounded her.

In a quick reflex her leg came forward hitting at what she assumed was his midsection causing the whirlwind to stop and push him back. He gave her a surprising look.

She tilted her head sideways. Her hazel eyes on him, "I may not be as fast as you but I'm a quick learner...want to go again?"

His lips curled upward before parting but before a word could be said the ground shook. A huge wall was brought up between them and then she heard, "Let's go...we're done here..."

The silver haired boy frowned and looked at his brown haired leader with a frown, "But-I-was-just-getting-started!" He answered quickly.

"Now quicksilver..."

He gave him a dirty look but then turned to her, sparing her a quick glance before zooming away. They were all gone within seconds, when she looked around she saw that she wasn't alone.

"Should we pursuit?"

Leader boy, Cyclops if she recalled what Wolverine called him shook his head, "Let's join Wolverine and Storm, they might need help..."

She nodded and turned giving the direction the Brotherhood had gone one last glance, finding that she wasn't very satisfied with the way her first mission had ended.

O-o-O-o-O-o-O-o-O Elsewhere O-o-O-o-O-o-O-o-O

Wolverine frowned as he looked at the damage around him. Pieces of robot body parts were sprawled about in disarray.

His nose twitched as he picked up four distinct scents. Three were unknown but he was able to place one remembering a day months ago when Charles had sent them on a recruiting mission. The two-tone hair girl had listened to their cause but had declined the offer to join stating that she had to figure a few things on her own but if she ever changed her mind she would come knocking at the institutes door.

Well, she hadn't come knocking but it seemed The Rogue was definitely in town.

Wolverine started moving around the rubble and headed towards where Storm was interviewing four frightened nurses.

"You are sure they were four?"

"Yes, two of them are patients here but the other two were unknown," one of the nurses responded sounding worried.

Another nurse scoffed, "Good riddance to those damn muties..." She whispered in a low tone making Wolverine's eyes narrow and a low growl escaped his throat.

Storm looked over her shoulder in surprise not having expecting him to join her so soon. "Would you happen to have the names of the two who were admitted here?"

Another of the nurses handed her a clipboard, the dislike obvious in her eyes. Wolverine gave another small growl while Storm rolled her eyes at him and the two nurses that were obviously anti-mutant.

"Thank you for your time," Storm remarked politely and turned to walk away.

"Wait..." The white haired, dark skinned weather goddess turned and saw the last of the nurses give a concern look, "Are they...going to be ok?"

"We would need to find them in order to answer that..." Storm answered and have a small nod while walking away, Wolverine followed her and then watched as she looked at the mess around them.

"Impressive isn't it? For just four mutants..."

Wolverine question broke her out of her thoughts and the weather witch nodded, "Anyone we know?"

"I only recognized one, that kid from Mississippi from a few months ago..."

Storm's facial expression went into a thoughtful expression as she recalled the incident and nodded, "Rogue?"

He nodded in confirmation before her eyes went to the papers the nurses had given her. Within a few seconds her eyes widened.

"What?"

"One of these mutants, their name..."

"What is it?"

"Wanda Maximoff..."

"Maximoff? Like Pietro Maximoff?"

Storm gave a solemn nod, "I'm afraid so...you don't think the Brotherhood was attacking as a distraction do you?"

Wolverine shook his head, "They're not usually that bright. I think we're done here though...let's go back to the mansion and see what Chuck thinks of it..."

Storm nodded and they both walked through the rubble on the floor and through the broken wall of the building.

O-o-O-o-O-o-O-o-O Next Day O-o-O-o-O-o-O-o-O

The four young adults arrived in New York City the morning after. Rogue decided that the first thing that needed to be done was some shopping, she wanted to get some new clothes and something besides old and torn straightjackets for her new friends.

They headed to Trash and Vaudeville and explored the store, it was definitely a store to her liking. Wanda seemed to enjoy the selections of clothing as well and picked up a lot of red pieces while she chose green.

"We should try these on before we buy them," Rogue suggested, figuring that Wanda probably haven't tried on any new clothes.

Wanda nodded and the two headed for the fitting room.

Remy browsed their boots selection while John look at the lighters they had, frowning at how little they had to offer and the fact there was no fluid in them. After everything, they paid with the money Remy had made from charming the ladies during their travels. When he was done paying Wanda and John gave him a curious look making him give a small smile but it wasn't until they were outside when one of the southerers gave an explanation for a the loot.

"The Cajun used tah be a pickpocket…"

"Oui...b'for de bellle cherie 'ere made me stop," Remy added with a fax pout making the green eyed beauty roll her eyes at him.

John's mouth formed into an "O" at the news and Wanda nodded understanding but neither said anything or pressed the matter. They were both more than happy to be out of the clothes that they had been given at the asylum. For the first time in over a decade, she finally had her own clothes, which made her smile.

John turned to her for the first time since she'd gotten into her new clothes and smiled, "Ooooi love the red on you."

Wanda blushed at the words and then looked down at herself, the black pants and red sleeveless top was quite comfortable. She had also gotten herself a red trench coat, to keep her warm during the autumn weather. After looking herself over she turned back to the orange haired boy whose blue eyes were on his newly bought lighter, she gave a small smile and looked away.

The exchange didn't go unnoticed by their other two companions but other than sharing a look neither commented on it and instead the auburn haired man turned away and started making his way away from the store. His 'belle chere' followed close behind and he called something out about finding a hotel over his shoulder so the other two followed as well.

When they finally found a suitable hotel they decided on a two bed bedroom. The girls immediately stated that they were willing to share, the boys on the other hand eyed the second bed cautiously before both making a jump for it. At battle with pillows and elbow jabs then started ending with a certain aussie on the floor and a cocky looking Cajun looking down at him.

"Look's like de couch fo y' homme…"

John uttered a curse but stayed on the floor while the two girls looked at them, one with a highly amused look at her face while they other looked perplexed by the whole incident. They both then turned and shared a looking knowing one thing for sure, it was going to be a long night.

Leafee: Soo...I just recently got accepted to an art school to study architecture 800 miles away. Sooooo finding time to write is much more sensitive than it has been the last couple of months. But we have the story plotted out and I'm sure Hexy will guilt me into writing sooner than 9 years. :)

UHW: Short but hopefully enjoyable! Woot Woot, I started us off with some Xietro...cause well...I mean it's Xietro...all my X-men related fics should have a hint of Xietro, Am I right or am I right? ;) Anyway I hope you guys liked this, we've already started our next chapter which we're writing in a roleplay format. It might be a bit until you see it, Leafee's usually busy with school and work while I' busy with work and (my monster) Rebellious Hearts. Thanks in advance for your patience and we'll hopefully see you soon (sooner than nine years anyway…:P)
