The Infamous "Hug"
I was randomly inspired when doing the laundry…go figure. This little ficlet was written for a challenge on LiveJournal (we had to write something involving the Shrieking Shack).

So I decided to write one of my favorite scenes from the series: the PoA scene where Remus embraces Sirius "like a brother." Except that it's from Remus's point of view…and not very brotherly at all.

Warning: This is SLASH (Sirius/Remus pairing). If this isn't your thing, don't read. On the bright side, this is the only fanfic I've written that is below a T rating.

"Where is he, Sirius?" asked Remus tensely.

The sunken, gaunt face of his once-friend stared blankly back at him. Slowly Sirius raised his hand and pointed at Ron.

"But then…why hasn't he shown himself before now?" he asked, more to himself than anything. Eyes widened as the epiphany struck him. "Unless—unless he was the one…unless you switched…without telling me?"

Sirius stared at him, a myriad of emotions flitting through his eyes. He nodded once, slowly.

"Professor," Harry interrupted, "what's going on—?"

But Remus was barely listening. His attention was focused on the broken shell of a man in front of him. Gradually Remus lowered his wand and walked over to Sirius, helping him up with an extended hand. The cat fell to the floor, but neither of them cared.

Remus looked intently into the eyes he had long ago fallen for. Then, quite suddenly, he was embracing Sirius, reveling in the heat he hadn't felt in so long, the tacit comfort that only Sirius could give. One of Sirius's arms was wrapped around his neck; the other, around his waist. Remus marveled at how perfectly they seemed to fit into each other's arms, even after twelve years away.

"I missed you, Remus," Sirius whispered in his ear, burying into Remus's hair.

He only vaguely realized how scandalized the kids would be if he jumped Sirius right then and there. And then he remembered the reason they were in the Shack in the first place, and cursed mentally.

"Sirius, I—"

"I DON'T BELIEVE IT!" Hermione shrieked.

They pulled apart reluctantly and turned to her. The girl was smart, but she had the absolute worst sense of timing.

Well? It's my first semi-drabble. I say semi because it's twice as long as a drabble is supposed to be. Hope you all liked it.
