Amos doesn't like Billy Flynn's methods. The lawyer has a vocabulary that would confuse anyone, let alone him, and he uses it at the strangest moments.

For example, today, he was biting Amos's neck and murmuring "Ardency is a marvellous thing, don't you agree?"

Amos likes what Billy does, but not what Billy says. He wishes the other man would shut up. Roxie was good- Roxie wouldn't talk. Amos likes to feel, to think. Conversation comes later.

Next time, he'll answer that "making love is the most fun you can have without laughing."

And then, maybe Billy will be silent.
