Author's Note: Howdy y'all. This fic, as you've read from the summary is about Leo's feelings during those oh so tense seconds when Don was unreachable after he retrieved the crystal moon for Sydney and all her friends. This of course is from an episode of the new TMNT show entitled: Return to the Underground. Please enjoy.

Disclaimer: I do not own TMNT or any of the characters involved in that universe. Much to my chagrin. So don't sue me because honestly there's nothing I have that anyone else could possibly want.

Now that all those unpleasant legalities are out of the way...please enjoy

Panic

I heard the crystal moon burst to the surface and suddenly a bright light was flashing all around us, I spared a hand to shield my eyes. I thought I'd be blind after a display like that, but all around me I could hear the astonished gasps as the people returned to their human form. Don's plan had worked and everything was going to be all right. I called Don to make sure he knew it was a success. Then my heart froze and I'm sure I looked every bit as horrified as my brothers did when he didn't answer. I tried again.

"Don? Sydney? Can you hear me?"

Still no answer. As one, my brothers and I ran to the lip of the magma pool. Mikey moved as close to the edge as possible straining his eyes for any sign of Don. Raph stood just behind him, his eyes blank and disbelieving. I stood behind Raph. I hated the feel of the heat that rolled off the magma, the power. As I searched for signs of my brother I realized that if he was in trouble there was nothing I could do. He'd be lost. We had no other machine capable of navigating those depths and even if we did, none but Donnie would know what to do with it. Visions of my brother trapped beneath the surface swam behind my eyes and I was vaguely aware that Mikey was speaking; disbelief and horror echoed through the words, "They didn't make it."

To my right, Raph buried his head in his hand and his shoulders sagged in an uncharacteristic gesture of defeat. For a second more, images and memories of my baby brother rushed through my mind; the look of pure joy when he completed his first computer, the way his coffee eyes would harden and turn almost ebony when he was absolutely determined. Then all the times he'd fought beside me flashed through my head; although an avowed pacifist, he never hesitated to use his skills to protect others, especially his family. And pacifist or no, when armed with his trusty bo staff he was a force to be reckoned with. And he was gone. Raph and I simultaneously moved towards Mikey and towards each other. Suddenly the surface bubbled and the Tunneler erupted through the magma and rolled steadily onto the shore. For a moment all three of us simply stood there, then, as we realized what was happening we simultaneously burst into applause.

The Tunneler's door opened a second later and Don strode calmly out. Greeted by our ecstatic cheers he offered us a shy smile. I smiled in return, Donnie was ok. The plan had worked and everything was going to be all right.

Author's Other Note: Ok kiddies, well how'd you like it? This is my first fic (long time listener first time caller kind of thing) so be gentle, but all reviews are welcome, I can take it. Probably. Anywho review away. Please?
