The day before

I was a child,

A little cruel,

A little wild,

With no regrets,

With no remorse,

No hidden fears,

My will my course.

A baby bird,

An edgy girl,

My heart concealed

Like precious pearl

Within the shell

Of touchy pride

Awaiting time

To open wide,

And once forget

To keep the score,

And cease to be

The I-before.
