Part 5 –The Shows Over
Draco quickly walked as two of his bodyguards followed him out of the room, "I would rather be a fool and check than to let her escape and to have just sat here."
Lucius shook his head as the lights returned to normal and spoke the masked man on his left side, "Children just can't enjoy the arts sometimes. Always so suspicious."
The crowd began to chat among themselves for a few minutes before Snape came in from the side door with his brow furrowed. Lucius stood and clapped as the rest followed to do the same. He walked towards Snape with his hand out-reached and smiled as he said, "Bravo, so well done. Who knew you could sing so well."
Snape looked puzzled as he replied, "Sang, whatever are you talking about? The Ministry held me up and I was just coming in to apologize for me being late, not able to do the show on time as we discussed."
Lucius paled a bit more than his normal skin tone as he softly spoke, "Then who just performed with Granger? Granger! All of you search this building, every inch for her."
All the men began to rush out of the room as he continued, "One cannot simply Disapparate from within these walls. She must be here somewhere. Find her!"
The crowd exited the small, private room to a much larger dance club and they separate into small groups as they began to search the place. Lucius instructed that no one was to leave and the guards at all the doors reported back that no one had left in the past hour. Snape stayed by Lucius' side as they checked all the back hallways till they came across a closet where his son and guards were placed, each under a petrificus totalus spell.
Snape helped carry the stiff young blonde as he whispered the counter-charm to place him the closest chair. Draco suddenly had his wand out and pointed at Snape's chest. Lucius smacked the wand out of his wand and yelled, "He is not the imposter. What happened to you?"
Draco eyed the professor as he bite out, "We start back down this hallway to my office when Snape charmed us still as Granger and him disappeared into my office door."
Snape handed his wand to Lucius, "You can check my wand for its last spell. And it will not be that, but the charm to get into the club since I was late and the Floo had been closed."
Lucius flicked the wand and it showed it had been true and handed it back to Snape, "Thank you. I never doubted it. Let's go to the Floo, whoever left that way- we will be able to find them."
They all rushed to the younger Malfoy's office as Draco touched the wall by the fireplace and the family crest signal glowed on the wall. One of the other masked Death Eaters asked, "What does that mean?"
Lucius reached from his son's right hand and showed his fingers emptied as he angrily lashed out, "It means they took my son's ring and used the fireplace without detection. I told you not to have that charm done in this building. You stupid, foolish boy. She is gone and probably going to go straight to the Ministry. I might just end you myself."
He raised his cane to Draco before remembering himself and spoke, "If you could all leave us, I need to have a word with my son."
Snape gave a small bow of his head as he followed the rest of the crowd out the room. After exiting the Malfoy's club he turned and disapparated straight to the doorstep of the manor. He was met there with a brightly smiling version of him holding the door open for him. The smiling Snape spoke excitedly, "She is upstairs sleeping safely. Did everything work as you planned?"
The normal, grumpy Snape walked into the house as he replied, "Yes, they found the Petrified Draco and crew as well as noticed the ring gone. No one suspects me of anything. Well done."
The smiling Snape slowly morphed into a smiling Blaise Zabnini as he held out a hand to the other man, "I will forever be in your debit."
Snape raised an eyebrow as he spoke over his shoulder and headed up the stairs to his own rooms, "Never sing as me in public again and we will be considered even. Good evening, it has been a long weekend."
Blaise shoved his hands into the frock coat of his mentor and couldn't wipe the smile off his face. After a quick change of clothes, he would be right back by her bedside. During the performance, somehow Hermione had realized it had been him and the passion in those eyes that burned for him caused that goofy smile. Hopefully, the Ministry would put the Malfoy's on trial and be a huge blow to the Dark side. The next few months or years would be hard on Hermione as she deals with her entrapment but he would never again leave her side and that sounded perfect to the young man; just perfect.
