If you could erase everything else- his messy hair or even his straw hat, leaving nothing but his smile like some kind of perverted Cheshire cat, he would still be the same person. Maybe it's in the way he his eyes close when he smiles, or how his laugh is so carefree, or maybe it's just magic.
Each time he smiles he makes those around him happy. To a swordsman who never smiled much in his childhood, so much happiness is intoxicating.
