You smile and you laugh
Other days I see you
You look as fragile as glass.
I can't tell who you really are
Behind your quiet mask
I just wish that you'd let me in
Is that really too much to ask?
What goes on inside your head?
Are there silent tears that fall?
Why won't you let me see beyond
Your thick protective wall?
Are you angry with hot blood
Pumping through your veins?
Are you ready to break down
In a storm of raging pain?
I just wish that you would tell me
Who you really are
The closer I try to get to you
The more you seem afar.
