Random Fruits Basket drabble, set after the end of episode 5 when Tohru moves back in with the Sohmas.
(Fruits Basket isn't mine, just borrowing the characters for a while.)
The journey was only half finished, but it felt like he'd been walking forever.
With every step, the weight bore heavier on him. Every mile was an eternity.
He longed so deeply to stop, lie down and let sleep embrace him.
At one point, it got to be so much he thought he would scream with anguish.
Why had he agreed to go through with this task?
"Jeez, Tohru, what did you PACK in this thing! Rocks!"
Tohru sweatdropped, feeling guilty for having asked Kyo for help.
"I'm sorry! I didn't realize my books would be so heavy!" She abandoned the organization of her bureau drawers and ran to his side. "Let me help!"
"No, it's all right." Kyo grimaced. "I guess it's just been awhile since I did THIS kind of heavy lifting," he said.
"Even so, I should have realized even someone as strong as you might have trouble!" Tohru said. Just then, Shigure walked by.
"Having some trouble there, Kyo?" he asked. "I didn't think moving Tohru back in would be so hard for you!"
"Shut up or help!" Kyo growled.
Tohru couldn't help giggling as they carried the suitcase into her room.
Life at the Sohma house was never boring. This was where she belonged. Not with her grandfather's family.
"It's good to be back," she mused.
