K x K one shot
05.02.23.
A few days back, it had come to the dojo's attention that Yahiko and Sano were having a bit of a bet.
Yahiko noticed one day when he had tripped and fell, how good Kenshin's reflexes were.
He bent and caught the tofu basket and its contents without batting an eye.
Yahiko thought that this would make for a good wager.
He told Sano that the first one who could catch Kenshin unawares would get a month off chores. Smirking, he also told Megumi, and Kaoru of the bet as well, but they rolled their eyes and continued with what they were doing.
At every opportunity, Sanosuke and Yahiko took turns throwing, spitting, or yelling things at Kenshin, but he was always unfazed.
One day, Sanosuke threw an orange at Kenshin's head. "Yo, Kenshin!"
Without even pausing from his turnip slicing, Kenshin caught the orange.
Sanosuke scowled. "Yes, Sano?"
Then he looked surprised. "Where did this orange come from?"
Sanosuke made an impatient noise and walked out of the room.
Yahiko smirked at him and tossed the melon he had in his hand up and down.
He followed Kenshin outside and hollered at him. "Kenshin!"
"What?" He called back, absorbed in sweeping the yard.
Yahiko hurled the melon with all his might at the poor red head, but Kenshin only sidestepped the flying fruit.
He sighed. "I'd really hoped you would stop that, Yahiko-chan. Now there is more for this one to clean."
Yahiko stormed into the house. Not only had he not won the bet, but Kenshin called him –chan!
Kaoru had watched the antics of Sanosuke and Yahiko, her amusement growing at each and every time one of their pathetic attempts failed.
She had been practicing in the dojo when Yahiko told her to come and help him with the groceries.
Kaoru walked out, her shinai slung over one shoulder to greet him.
Grabbing one of the armfuls that Yahiko had, she took it into the kitchen and started to place it on the table and into their respected places of the household.
Ironically, Kaoru stepped into the remains of one of Sanosuke's flung oranges and slipped, her arms flailing.
Kenshin, only just walking into the room, saw Kaoru's balance quite threatened and rushed to help her.
His arms around her, Kenshin straightened Kaoru and stepped back from her.
She blushed slightly. "Thank you, Kenshin."
And then she went up on her toes and lightly kissed him on the cheek.
His eyes widen considerably and he stuttered, "N-No problem." He was quite red.
Kaoru gave him a small smile and fled the room.
Sano watched this with narrowed eyes. He picked up an orange and threw it at Kenshin.
"Kenshin!" He called.
Thunk.
"Oro!"
Yahiko snarled. "Damn. Kaoru won."
:hides in shame: Was that so bad? Wow… I wrote it a long time ago and this was a pretty poor attempt at humour.
Don't hurt me please. Anyways, even though it's so bad, I want you to review! And review! And review again!
:giggles like mad: I like reviews…
