Loki chewed on his bottom lip as Bartleby approached him with a knife. "Hey! Wait! I don't wanna do this anymore. Let's go back to Wisco-"
"Do you want to go home Loki?" Bartleby demanded.
"No, I want to go back to Wisconsin!" Loki hissed as Bartleby sliced off a few feathers. "Please! You're hurting me."
Bartleby watched as blood dripped from the wings on Loki's back. It half made him sick, but he half enjoyed it as well. He took his knife and stabbed it into the middle of Loki's wing, spilling crimson blood all over the pristine white wings his partner had. Loki fought back tears and whimpered.
"Come on Loki! It can't hurt that bad." Bartleby teased. "Besides, you get to cut off mine later, and you can make it hurt me more, if you want…" he offered. He started to saw off Loki's left wing, and as he did so, heard Loki begin to sniffle.
Bartleby looked down at Loki and was shocked to see tears flowing from his friend's eyes. Bartleby looked back to Loki's wings and sliced off the left wing.
Loki opened his eyes and tried to flutter his wings, then realized that all the agony he had just gone through was to cut off only one wing. Bartleby pressed his forehead against Loki's, and in his eyes, Loki could see a glimmer of the Bartleby before this plenary indulgence, and before he totally lost it in the parking garage. He saw the Bartleby that would sit and watch people in the airport; the Bartleby that would sometimes watch cartoons with him. The Bartleby that would make him breakfast.
"I can't just leave you like this. I have to cut the other one too." Bartleby whispered. He pulled a beer out of his pocket. "After I'm done, you can have this… I've got more for you, if you want."
Loki took the beer and squeezed his eyes shut. "Do it. Just… do it, okay?" he commanded, his voice weak.
Bartleby pressed his lips to Loki's forehead and felt the blonde angel shaking. "It'll be okay. I swear."
Loki began to sob, and hid his face in Bartleby's shoulder. Bartleby quickly cut the other wing off and then began to stroke Loki's hair.
"A-are you okay?" Bartleby whispered.
Loki nodded, burrowing closer to Bartleby. Bartleby cracked open the beer. "Here. Drink this."
The blonde angeldowned the entire bottle of beer. Bartleby kissed him on the forehead. "Remember… We're going home, okay? We're going home."
"It's war on God. War on God, Bartleby." Loki said, his voice shaky. "I-"
Bartleby silenced him with a kiss. He pulled away and whispered. "Forget all that shit. Just remember. I love you kid, okay? I love you..."
Loki nodded. "I-" He was interrupted by a person walking by. The person saw Bartleby and his wings, and the dead people everywhere, and started screaming.
Bartleby turned, and Loki could see the evil in his eyes. He grinned and chased after the person, picking her up, and flying high above the ground with her, threatening to drop her.
Loki watched all this and began to cry again. "Damn it Bartleby. God damn it…"
"I love you too."
